Guru Gobind Singh College of Education (For Women) was established in 2006, is an educationally backward area of Punjab in the city Giddarbaha. For the upliftment of Women Education, a good teacher training institution was a need of time in this rural area. From this point of view the management committee decide to establish an institution to fulfill the requirement of good studies in this backward area. The institution is named after 10th Guru of Silh religion Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

The history of the College goes back to the year 1955 when India, particularly the state of Punjab, was making efforts to carry education to every village, not even represented on its educational map. There was an urgent need to open a teacher training college which would cater to education needs of rural Punjab, which in turn led to the establishment of this college.

Balachaur was an educationally backward area. There was no college in the nearby areas. B.K.M. College Balachaur (Registered Educational Society) came forward to provide educational facilities in the suburban city Balachaur. The society has been serving the noble cause of Education since 5June 1978.

Over the years, this institute has grown into an outstanding academic establishment in India covering varied areas of academic interests, and attracting an equally diverse faculty and student body.

An educational trust under the name of Sri Guru Hargobind Ujjagar Hari Trust ( S.G.H.G.U.), Sidhwan Khurd was established in 1934 and Bhai Sahib Bhai Narain Singh Ji became the first president of the Trust.

The Teacher Training (B.T.) was started in 1955 as a department of the Arts College with 100 seats. In 1957, the B.T. Department was transformed into an independent and full-fledged institute i.e. G.H.G. KHALSA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION. In 1976, 100 more seats were added. M.Ed. class was started w.e.f. 1982. The College is awarded ‘A’ Grade (CGPA 3.04) by National Accreditation Assessment Council.

Dev Samaj College of Education for Women was established in 1942. It was the first non-governmental Teachers' Training College in the whole of United Punjab. The college has made a mark not only in academics but also in the field of multi-dimensional co-curricular activities.
