NID DAT 2027-28 Syllabus
The detailed NID DAT 2027–28 syllabus and programme-specific assessment brief should be taken from the current Admissions Handbook and official notices. The following broad areas are useful preparation themes, not a substitute for that syllabus.
Preparation areas
- Observation and visual perception: noticing form, proportion, details, visual relationships, patterns and spatial arrangements.
- Drawing and visual communication: communicating an idea clearly through sketches, composition, perspective, sequence and visual storytelling.
- Creative thinking and design problem-solving: generating alternatives, understanding a user or brief, making design choices and explaining the reasoning.
- Visualisation and spatial reasoning: interpreting objects and arrangements, transformations, form and visual relationships.
- General awareness: design, art, culture, materials, environment and relevant current affairs where included in the official paper.
- DAT Mains: prepare for the programme-specific practical, studio or other tasks described in the current handbook; do not assume that an old studio-test format is unchanged.
How to use the syllabus
Read the 2027–28 handbook for the selected programme, note any amendments on the NID admissions portal, and practise communicating ideas within the stated constraints. Legacy IndCareer material at /en/nid-syllabus records the older Prelims/Mains distinction, but its cycle-specific material is not the current syllabus.
