The SMART ENERGY CHALLENGE 2026, hosted by Chennai Institute of Technology, is a premier technical event focused on electrical engineering, power systems, renewable energy, and smart energy solutions. This challenge invites participants to tackle real-world energy problems by designing innovative hardware or simulation-based solutions that are practical, efficient, and scalable. Events & Competitions
The SMART ENERGY CHALLENGE 2026 features a diverse range of activities. The core competition revolves around three specific Problem Statements: Smart Energy Monitoring and Load Optimization System, Renewable Energy Integration with Energy Storage, and Smart EV Charging and Power Management System. Beyond the hackathon, the event schedule includes specialized workshops such as Kuka Robotics, E-Vehicle, Renewable Energy, and Code to Cloud: ESP programming. Additional competitive events include Paper Presentation, Wiring Wits, Circuit Debugging, Tech Quiz, Project Presentation, and E-Cadathon.
Eligibility & Registration
Eligibility for the SMART ENERGY CHALLENGE 2026 requires teams of 2–5 participants with basic knowledge of electrical circuits, power systems, or electronics. Participants must have access to a laptop with necessary software like MATLAB, Proteus, or Arduino IDE. Hardware components such as microcontrollers, sensors, and relays are also required. The registration fee is Rs. 200 for Round 2. Registration is open until January 20, 2026. The evaluation process consists of two stages: Stage 1 involves an abstract submission and online presentation, while Stage 2 requires a final offline presentation and live demonstration.
