About Physiotherapy Technician Program
Physiotherapy is the field of science that deals with the care, prevention and recovery of people suffering of some physical disabilities. It is a non-surgical treatment aimed at alleviating pain, restoring mobility and enhancing the movement of the patient’s affected body part.
The course has been designed so as to produce skilled and qualified professionals capable of carrying out specific tasks to improve the quality of patient life.
The Diploma in Physiotherapy Technician (D.P.T.) course deals with physiotherapy and its allied areas. Students learn how to treat patients with physical disabilities and injuries in a range of settings including hospitals, health centers, private practices and sports clubs.
Program Objective
- To examine and assess defects of neurological & musculoskeletal systems
- To learn about applications of physiotherapy in orthopedics, neurological, medical, surgical and sports related conditions
- To acquire a basic understanding of the drugs used in physiotherapy & BLS
- To understand the working of equipments used in physiotherapy
- To be able to plan and execute appropriate exercises and electrotherapy
The university (EU) trains its students in the most professional way as our academic part is well taken care of by our highly efficient and experienced faculty.
During the first year students are introduced to general anatomy & physiology, cytology, histology, osteology and the basics of all organ systems of the human body. In addition to basics of the relevant pathology, pharmacology and microbiology, a detailed study of anatomy, muscles and joints and nerves of the body is also done.
The practical training component comprises of exhaustive training on the basics of exercise therapy, electropathy, physics used in physiotherapy, biomechanics and kinesiology in providing basics of life support (BLS) & cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The second year of the course provides training in surgical and medical conditions in orthopedics and neurological systems. Basic nursing procedures such as recording of vitals, IM/IV/SC injection, oxygen therapy, nebulization and IV infusion is also a part of the studies.
