Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must hold an M.Sc in Physics. Those in their final semester of M.Sc may also apply, provided they can submit the final semester marksheet before joining.
Application Process:
The application form proforma is available on the University Website www.caluniv.ac.in. Applicants must fill out the application form and submit it along with the receipt of Rs.100/- paid online through SBI Collect at https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/sbicollect (Select Calcutta University Online Payment -> Payment for Misc Fees -> Application for admission to PhD).
Selection Process:
Selection will be based on an Entrance Test and Interview.
Candidates who have qualified in NET-JRF/NET-LS/SET/SLET/GATE or have already obtained the M.Phil. degree would be exempted from the written examination but must appear for an interview on the scheduled date. During the interview, candidates must bring all relevant documents in original.
Qualifying the RET will not ensure any form of fellowship from the University.
Entrance Test Pattern:
Eligible candidates are required to participate in a written examination lasting for 1 hour. The examination will take place on April 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Department of Physics, University of Calcutta.
The syllabus for this examination will cover the Physics M.Sc. syllabus of the University, excluding Elective and Advanced Papers.
Successful candidates from the written examination will be invited for an interview scheduled between April 2 and April 4, 2024. The final selection and allocation of supervisor will be based on this interview.
