About
B.A. Honors in Economics is a 3-year full-time undergraduate degree course, the minimum eligibility for which is a Higher Secondary Certificate (10+2) qualification with a minimum aggregate score of 45%.
This program is spread over six semesters. Besides the core subjects which cover rigorous economics, there are discipline-specific and generic papers. Apart from developing core knowledge and skills in economics, you will learn to analyze ways in which the economy operates through projects, presentations, seminars, and interactive sessions with Economists.
The Economics Department provides a stimulating environment for a thorough understanding of a range of subjects such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Mathematical methods for Economics, Statistical Methods for Economics, Econometrics, Financial Economics, International Economics, Development Economics, Indian Economics, and Public Economics. Skill Enhancement subjects are offered to add to the skills and growing demand of the job market. With a view to enhancing the scope of future prospects and promoting interdisciplinary learning, the students also study Generic subjects offered by the other departments of the college.
Eligibility Criteria
Who Can Apply: Basic qualification to apply for B.A (Hons) Economics is a 10+2 senior school certificate exam or an equivalent examination passed. Please refer to the prospectus for other admission eligibility details.
When To Apply: Students are advised to follow the guidelines issued by the University of Delhi every year. Usually, the application process begins in May/June every year.

Program Outcome
Students will:
- Get an understanding of basic economic theory;
- Learn the mathematical and statistical techniques necessary for a proper understanding of the discipline;
- Get an introduction to real-world economic issues and problems facing the country and the world;
- Gain an understanding of proper policy responses to economic problems;
- Get trained to collect primary data and learn sampling techniques;
- Learn to use scientific empirical methods to arrive at conclusions about the validity of economic theories;
- Get trained in the art of economic modeling.
