Eligibility Criteria
Meeting the specific eligibility requirements set by Panjab University is mandatory to apply for PU MET 2026. The criteria vary slightly based on the specialization.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from Panjab University or any other recognized university with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/BC candidates).
A. MBA (Retail Management) and MBA (Banking & Insurance Mgt):
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any discipline of Panjab University or of any other university which has been recognized by the syndicate as equivalent there to with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate.
B. MBA (IT & Telecommunication Mgt.) and MBA (Infrastructural Management) :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology, i.e. B.E./B. Tech. (in any Branch) of Panjab University or of any other University recognized by Panjab University as equivalent there to with at least 50% marks in the aggregate.
C. MBA (Pharmaceutical Management) :
Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy Or M.B.B.S. Or Bachelor’s Degree in any Science Subject with 50% marks and Diploma in Pharmacy with minimum 50% marks.
D. MBA(Hospital Management) :
– MBBS/BAMS/BHMS/BDS/B.Pharmacy/BPT/ B.Sc (Nursing) with 50% marks.
– Provided that in case of candidates having Bachelor’s degree of the University through Modern Indian Languages [Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi (Gurumukhi Script)] and/or in a classical language (Sanskrit/ Persian/Arabic) or degree of any other university obtained in the same manner recognized by the Syndicate, 50% marks in the aggregate shall be calculated by taking into account full percentage of marks in all the papers in Language excluding the additional optional paper, English and the elective subject taken together. Or
– Pass in the final examination conducted by either (a) Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or England, or (b) Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India or England or (c) Institute of Company Secretaries of India Or
– AMIE examination with 50% marks or more after having passed the diploma examination with 60% marks or above and have at least 5 years research/teaching or professional experience.
📝 Exam Pattern & Structure
The exam is conducted in an offline (Pen-and-Paper) mode and focuses on your aptitude for specialized management sectors.
- Duration: 120 minutes (2 hours).
- Total Questions: 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- Marking Scheme: $+1$ for every correct answer; $-0.25$ for every incorrect answer.
- Medium: English.

PU MET Syllabus: Components of the Test
The entrance test covers six main areas to assess a candidate’s aptitude for management studies.
- General Knowledge (GK)
- Economics and Business Environment Awareness
- Data Interpretation and Problem Solving
- Numerical Ability
- Verbal Ability/Reasoning
- English Comprehension
The exam will be held in pen-paper format (offline mode); the entrance test will be of 2 hours duration. The medium of examination shall be ENGLISH only. It will consist of multiple-choice questions, wherein candidates will be given with four responses to mark a correct response out of these four
The components of the test will include:
(i) General Knowledge, (ii) Economics and Business Environment Awareness, (iii) Data interpretation and problem solving, (iv) Numerical Ability, (v) Verbal Ability/ Reasoning and (vi) English Comprehension
Negative marking shall also be applicable i.e. marks will be deducted for wrong answers. If for each correct answer 1 mark will be awarded, then for a wrong answer 1/4 mark will be deducted
Admissions Process & Final Merit Calculation
The final admission to the MBA programs at UIAMS is based on a holistic evaluation, not just the entrance test score. The merit list is prepared using a weighted score.
- Stage 1: Entrance Test (PU MET 2026)
- Weightage: 85%
- Stage 2: Group Discussion (GD)
- Weightage: 7.5%
- Stage 3: Personal Interview (PI)
- Weightage: 7.5%
The comprehensive result after the GD and PI is the basis for final selection. Candidates must clear all three stages to be considered for the UIAMS MBA Admission 2026-2027.
Cutoff
The cut off score depends on difficulty level of exam, availability of seats, number of applicants, etc. Based on the cut-off score examination authority prepares the merit list and candidates are called for counselling.
Counselling Process
Qualified candidates, based on the final merit list, will be called for the PU MET counselling process. The counselling involves document verification, choice filling for specializations, and final seat allotment based on merit and reservation rules.
