Presidency University is inviting online applications from candidates who have qualified in UGC or UGC-CSIR NET/NET-LS, or DBT-BET (only for Institute of Health Sciences), or ICMR-NET (only for Institute of Health Sciences) for admission to the PhD Program. This program is offered in various departments, schools, and institutes for the academic session 2024-25.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for admission to the Ph.D. program must hold a Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade. Relaxation of up to 5% marks or equivalent grade may be granted to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/Person with Disability (PwD) categories as per UGC guidelines. Additionally, candidates who have qualified in UGC or UGC-CSIR NET/NET-LS exams are eligible to apply. ICMR-NET and DBT-BET qualified candidates can apply for the Institute of Health Sciences (IHS) only.
Application Process:
- Only online applications will be considered.
- Candidates can apply online at https://www.presiuniv.ac.in.
- A printout of the online generated application form along with self-attested photocopies of essential documents needs to be sent by post to the Secretary, Faculty Councils, Presidency University, 86/1, College Street, Kolkata-700073 within the last date for receiving.
- There is no application fee.
Selection Procedure:
- All applicants must upload a research proposal within 500 words. Applicants may be shortlisted by the department/school/institute based on the research proposals, the availability of guides in the proposed research areas, and other academic criteria.
- All eligible candidates will have to appear for a test and interview conducted by the Departmental Ph.D. Selection Committees of the University.
- During the interview, candidates will be expected to discuss their research interests.
- Following the selection procedure, a list of qualified candidates (preferably mentioning their areas of research interest(s)) will be published and displayed by the University through the official website.
- Candidates selected for the Ph.D. Programme will be attached to the respective Department/School/Institute at the time of their provisional admission and will be required to enroll by paying a non-refundable fee, determined by the University.
