NTA PhD Entrance Exam
If you will appear in NTA PhD Entrance Exam, then you should know the mode, important topics, question distribution, marking scheme. This is the PhD Entrance Test exam pattern.

The exam pattern is as follows
- Mode of Exam – The exam is a Computer Based Test.
- Question type – The questions are MCQ.
- Number of Questions – There are 100 in each paper questions in the entrance exam.
- Exam Duration – The entrance exam is of 3 hours.
Language of Question Paper –

Marking Scheme –
i) Each question carries 04 (four) marks.
ii) For each correct response, candidate will get 04 (four) marks.
iii) For each incorrect response, 01 (one) mark will be deducted from the total score.
iv) Un-answered/un-attempted response will be given no marks.
v) To answer a question, the candidate needs to choose one correct option.
vi) However, after the process of Challenges of the Answer Key, in case there are multiple correct options or change in key, only those candidates who have attempted it correctly as per the revised Final Answer Key will be awarded marks.
vii) In case a Question is dropped due to some technical error, full marks shall be given to all the candidates irrespective of the fact who have attempted it or not.

MODE OF EXAMINATION

Other than the Ph.D. Entrance Test for different languages, Ph.D. Entrance Test for DU, JNU, BHU and BBAU 2026 will be conducted in English language only.
STRUCTURE OF QUESTION PAPERS
For Ph.D. Entrance Test for DU, JNU, BHU and BBAU 2026, the mode of examination is given below:
- The Question paper will have two Sections.
- Section 1- Research Methodology and Section 2- Subject specific.
- Each Question paper will have 100 MCQ Questions in English only except Languages.
- All Questions are Compulsory.
- Duration of Examination – 3 Hours (180 min.)
- A Candidate can choose a maximum of three courses, subject to one course in a slot as per timetable.
- The list of Subjects is mentioned below. Participating universities are requested to bunch their courses around these subjects. Eligibility should be the main criteria for bunching.
- The Subjects are divided into logical subject combinations which will have a common Research Methodology Section I and Section 2 would be domain specific.
