The National Law University Delhi (NLUD) is inviting applications for admission to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Law for the academic year 2024-25.

• UGC-JRF: 5 seats
• AILET Merit: 16 seats
• Fellowship through AILET Merit: 4 seats
• Foreign Nationals: 2 seats

Eligibility

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in relevant Social Sciences or humanities with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBCs non creamy layer/Differently Abled/Economically Weaker Section).

UGC-JRF candidates and Foreign Nationals are exempted from AILET. The University will follow the reservation policy as per the UGC Regulations.

The National Law University Delhi (NLUD) is inviting applications for admission to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Law for the academic year 2024-25.

Admission Process

The admission process for the PhD program is as follows:

1. Entrance Test: Candidates who do not have a UGC-JRF or are not a foreign national, will be required to take an entrance exam. The entrance exam will be conducted in three parts:a. Aptitude Test: This test will assess the candidate’s general aptitude for research. b. Research Proposal: Candidates will be required to submit a research proposal of not more than 5,000 words. The research proposal should clearly outline the candidate’s research topic, objectives, methodology, and expected outcomes. c. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
2. Evaluation of Research Proposals: The research proposals of all candidates will be evaluated by a panel of experts. The panel will assess the proposals on the following criteria:a. Relevance of the topic: The topic should be relevant to the field of law and should make a significant contribution to the existing body of knowledge. b. Clarity of objectives: The objectives of the research should be clearly defined and achievable. c. Soundness of methodology: The methodology should be sound and appropriate for the research topic. d. Feasibility: The research should be feasible to complete within the prescribed time frame.
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The interview will assess the candidate’s understanding of their research topic, their aptitude for research, and their ability to communicate their research ideas effectively.

Selection Criteria

The final selection of candidates will be based on the following criteria:

• Entrance Test (for candidates not having UGC-JRF or foreign nationals): 50%
• Evaluation of Research Proposals: 30%
• Interview: 20%
