The National Institute of Technology Mizoram has unveiled its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Admission for the year 2024, marking a significant opportunity for aspiring scholars to embark on an academic journey of excellence.

NIT Mizoram PhD Admission:

The esteemed National Institute of Technology (NIT) Mizoram is now accepting applications from enthusiastic individuals eager to pursue their PhD dreams during the January to June 2024 Session.

PhD Programs Available:

  1. PhD in Civil Engineering
  2. PhD in Computer Science and Engineering
  3. PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering
  4. PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  5. PhD in Mechanical Engineering
  6. PhD in Chemistry
  7. PhD in Mathematics
  8. PhD in English
  9. PhD in Economics
  10. PhD in Physics

Key Dates:

  • Commencement of Online Application Process: 8th November 2023
  • Announcement of Provisionally Shortlisted Candidates: 13th November 2023
  • Test/Interview for Shortlisted Candidates: 13th – 18th November 2023
  • Display of Final List of Selected Candidates: 24th November 2023
  • Online Payment of Fees for Selected Students: 1st – 5th December 2023
  • Online Admission Procedure for Selected Students: 1st – 8th December 2023
  • Registration for Selected Students: 8th – 13th January 2024
  • Semester Commencement: 15th January 2024

Eligibility Criteria:

For PhD in Engineering:

  • Candidates should possess a Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology from a Recognized University/Institute, with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in qualifying examinations. Full-Time Regular candidates must also have a valid GATE score. Alternatively, candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in a relevant field, having a minimum CGPA of 7.5 or 70% marks and a valid GATE score, are eligible.

For PhD in Science (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics):

  • Aspiring scholars should hold a Master’s degree in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics from a recognized University/Institute, with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in the qualifying exams. Qualifying the NET/GATE is also required, though this requirement is waived for Sponsored, Self-Financed, Project-Staff, and Part-Time categories. Institute scholarships are not applicable to these student categories.

For PhD in HSS (Economics/English):

  • Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Economics/English from a recognized University/Institute, with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale or 55% marks in the qualifying exams. Qualifying the NET is mandatory. SC/ST candidates enjoy a relaxation of 0.5 CGPA or 5% in marks.

Please note that conversions between CGPA and percentage are not permissible.

Application Procedure:

Interested candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to submit their applications online at Detailed instructions, as well as the application form, are available on the online portal.

Applicants must upload self-attested copies of the necessary supporting documents and provide a receipt of the online payment (Rs. 200/- for General/OBC or Rs. 100/- for SC/ST) favoring “Registrar, NIT Mizoram,” payable at SBI, Bawngkawn Branch, Aizawl, Mizoram. Female candidates are exempt from the application fee.
