Eligibility Criteria
For Full-time Scholars: Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences, or Management Sciences, or a related field with a consistently strong academic record, achieving at least a first-class distinction (or a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA if class is not specified on the transcript/certificate). Alternatively, candidates with a B.E./B.Tech. degree and an aggregate of 75% marks or equivalent GPA, along with a valid GATE score, are eligible. Prospective candidates must successfully clear the Institute’s entrance exam and interview for admission.
For Sponsored (Part-time) Scholars: Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences, or Management Sciences, with a consistently strong academic record, achieving a minimum of 60% marks and First Class (55% in the case of Humanities and Social Sciences), or an equivalent CGPA and First Class in the Master’s degree. Alternatively, applicants with a B.E./B.Tech. degree should have an aggregate of 60% marks and First Class or equivalent CGPA. Relaxation in eligibility criteria is applicable for SC/ST & PH candidates according to norms.
Employees from Industries, Research & Development (R&D) Organizations, and Academic Institutes with a minimum of 5 years of work experience post completion of UG (B.E/B.Tech), out of which 2 years should be from the current organization, or candidates with M.E/M.Tech/Master’s degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 3 years of working experience, out of which 2 years should be from the current organization, are eligible to apply for the Sponsored Ph.D. Programme. Candidates from Polytechnic Institutes or those with AMIE (or equivalent) qualifications must be M.Tech graduates to apply. The candidate’s age should not exceed 58 years. Relaxation in age and eligibility criteria is provided for SC/ST/PWD candidates as per Government of India norms, with a relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA.
To apply for the fellowship:
Step-I: Make the application fee payment based on your category (Rs. 1000/- for Gen/OBC, Rs. 500/- for SC/ST, and no fee for PWD). Please note that the application fees are non-refundable. Step-II: Fill out the online application form. Once submitted, send the printed copy of the online application form via email along with all required scanned documents.

Selection Procedure:
Eligible candidates may need to participate in an online written test and/or interview conducted by the respective Department based on their discipline. Shortlisted candidates, based on their performance in the written test, will be invited for an interview. Both the written test and interview may be conducted on the same day.
