Exam Pattern

The question paper of National Institute of Design Design Aptitude Test will be as per the exam pattern.

  • The NID exam pattern conveys the mode, important topics, question distribution, marking scheme.  
  • Latest exam scheme is as per nid.edu.

DAT Prelims for B.Des

  • Mode of Exam – The exam is a paper-and-pencil/pen test.
  • Language of Question Paper – The question paper is in language English.

DAT Prelims for M.Des

  • Components – Common Design Aptitude Test and a Discipline Specific Test
  • Question type – The questions are objective and subjective type questions.
  • Total Marks – Maximum marks in the NID DAT is 100 marks.
  • Language of Question Paper – The question paper is in language English.

DAT Mains for B.Des

  • The DAT Mains will consist of tests in multiple formats such as in studio set-up.
  • The question paper will be in English language ONLY.

DAT Mains for M.Des

The DAT Mains for M.Des. programmes consists of two parts:

  1. Studio Test: This may consist of tests in different formats. The DAT Mains will be conducted in English ONLY.
  2. Interviews: The interviews will be conducted separately for each discipline, immediately after the Studio Test, and at the same centre as the Studio Test.

Exam Pattern

The NID Entrance Exam consists of two parts: Prelims and Mains. The Prelims exam is a written test that evaluates a candidate’s aptitude for design, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The Mains exam is a studio test that evaluates a candidate’s hands-on skills, design ability, and visual sensitivity.
