Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, is pleased to announce the All India PhD Entrance Test (MET) for Admission to the PhD Program for the academic year 2023-24.

MAHE invites applications for the All India PhD Manipal Entrance Test (MET) 2023, which offers admission to the PhD Program in various disciplines. MAHE encourages research in interdisciplinary areas and provides a comprehensive academic program for earning a PhD degree. The primary goal of the PhD program is to equip researchers with the competency to conduct independent or group research. MAHE offers PhD programs across diverse disciplines through its constituent institutions and departments, under the Faculties of Health Sciences, Science, Technology & Management, and Humanities, Liberal Arts & Social Sciences.

  • Health Science (HS): Allied Health, Medical Radiation Physics, Nuclear Medicine, Optometry, Physiotherapy, Speech And Hearing, Dentistry, Health Sciences (Medicine), Life Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis And Drug Regulatory Affairs; Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance And Pharmaceutical Management; Pharmacology, Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacognosy And Pharmaceutical Biotechnology), Public Health (Hospital Administration, Regenerative Medicine).
  • Science, Technology & Management (STM): Architecture, Basic Science (Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics), Commerce And Economics, Earth Science (Geology), Engineering (Biomedical, Biotechnology, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical and Manufacturing, Power and Energy Systems), Hotel Administration, Humanities, Management, Natural Sciences (Biological Science, Physics).

  2. Full-Time (with Dr. TMA Pai Scholarships)
  3. Full-Time PhD (Self-Financed)
  4. Full-Time PhD for Project Fellows
  5. Full-Time PhD at Collaborating Research Centers
  6. Part-Time PhD

  • Faculty Expression of Interest (EOI): October 25 – November 15, 2023
  • Applications Open: November 17 – December 25, 2023
  • Centre-based Online Entrance Test: January 07, 2024
  • Test Shortlist in candidate portal: January 10, 2024
  • Preference filling by MET shortlisted candidates: January 12 – 15, 2024
  • MET shortlist sharing with Institute PhD coordinators: January 16 – 20, 2024
  • Test Shortlist Interviews: January 22 – February 05, 2024
  • Declaration of Interview results in the candidate portal: 2nd week of February 2024
  • Acceptance of Interview Selection by Shortlisted Candidates
  • Reporting to MAHE Admissions for Document Submission & Course Commencement: 2nd/3rd week of February 2024

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the PhD program, candidates must have an aggregate of 60% or an equivalent grade in any of the following:

  • Indian Qualifications: Medicine & Dental (MBBS / BDS / an undergraduate degree of at least 5-year duration or MD / MS / MDS / PG Diploma from an institution recognized by National Medical Council (NMC) or Dental Council of India (DCI)), Pharmacy (Doctor of Pharmacy – Pharm D or Pharm D Post Baccalaureate) from an institution/university recognized by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), or others (Master’s Degree of a minimum two years’ duration or equivalent from an institution/university recognized by UGC or the respective regulatory body).
  • Foreign Qualifications: Candidates with master’s degrees or equivalent from foreign universities must provide a certificate of recognition/equivalency by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as equivalent to the corresponding Indian degrees for higher studies.

Deakin–MAHE Cotutelle Program:

If you are seeking admission to the Deakin-MAHE Cotutelle Program, you need to have a minimum of 70%. Further details about the program will be shared with all PhD students of MAHE Manipal once available.

Application Process:

Eligible candidates can apply online through the official website at www.manipal.edu & MAHE PhD Admission Page.

Applicants must apply online before the last date and meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for admission. Detailed instructions for filling out online forms and relevant information are available on the University website.

The application fee can be paid through Debit/Credit card or internet banking.

MET Exam Pattern:

  • Test Duration: 2 hours
  • Test Date: June 07, 2024
  • Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) / Descriptive Type
  • Marking Scheme for MCQs: + 4 (Correct answer), – 1 (wrong answer), 0 (unanswered question)
  • Question Paper will have 2 parts:
    • Part A: Research Aptitude
      • Max Marks: 160
      • Total Questions: 40
      • Pattern: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for all 3 streams
    • Part B: Subject Specific Paper
      • Max Marks: 240
      • Total Questions: 60
      • Applicants MUST choose a stream relevant to the Master’s program and area of interest during the PhD Online Application Form (OAF) filling process.
      • Pattern: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for Health Science (HS) and Science, Technology & Management (STM), Descriptive Type for Humanities, Liberal Arts & Social Sciences (HLS) only.

Test Centers:
