  • Category I – Teachers for Lower Primary Classes

Eligibility Criteria

KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 1 (Lower Primary Classes)

Aspirants meet KTET eligibility criteria if they possess any of the below mentioned educational qualifications:

  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary or (or its equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and two years Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent.

OR

  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations 2002.

OR

  • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd).

OR

  • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 2 (Upper Primary Classes)

Aspirants meet KTET eligibility criteria if they possess any of the below mentioned educational qualifications:

  • BA/BSc/BCom and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent.

OR

  • BA/BSc/BCom with at least 45 per cent marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (BEd), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

OR

  • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (BElEd)

OR

  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 4 year BA/B.Sc.Ed or BA Ed or B.Sc.Ed.

KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 3 (High School Classes)

Aspirants meet KTET eligibility criteria if they possess any of the below mentioned educational qualifications:

  • BA/BSc/BCom with at least 45 per cent marks and a B.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned (from any one of the Universities in Kerala or have acquired these qualifications from any other Universities recognised as equivalent thereto)
  • For Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, those who have MScEd Degree in the subject concerned with not less than 50 per cent marks from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT will be eligible to apply. For Botany and Zoology subjects, those with MScEd Degree in Life Science with not less than 50 per cent marks from any of the Regional Institutes of Education are eligible to apply.
  • BA or equivalent with at least 45 per cent marks and who passed in LTTC are eligible to apply.

Additional eligibility criteria for KTET 2024 Category II aspirants is as follows:

  • Candidates, who have acquired a Diploma/Degree in teaching in any subject and are approved by Universities/NCTE/Board of Examinations/Govt. of Kerala, are eligible to apply for K-TET III. They will have to produce the equivalency certificate as recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala/the Government of Kerala.
  • Candidates who have acquired their qualifications through recognised correspondence courses/ Open universities should obtain and furnish certificates of recognition and equivalency from any one of the Universities in Kerala.
  • For considering the minimum qualifications, the marks for main and subsidiary papers only will be considered.

Note: Candidates belonging to SC/ST and differently-abled categories shall be granted a relaxation of 5 per cent marks in the minimum qualifying marks. Relaxation of 3 per cent in the qualifying marks is admissible to OBC & OEC candidates to appear for the K-TET- III.

KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 4 (Language Teachers, Specialist Teachers and Physical Education teachers)

Candidates who possess the required qualifications for the post of Language Teachers of Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit & Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist teachers & Physical Education teachers as mentioned in Chapter XXXI of KERALA EDUCATION ACT AND RULES are eligible to apply for KTET 4.

Application Form

The KTET application form 2024 has been made available on the official website. Candidates can apply online for the exam by following the given steps:

  • Visit the official website – https://ktet.kerala.gov.in/
  • Click on the registration link
  • Go through the instructions and click on ‘New Registration’
  • Enter the required details
  • Fill the application form
  • Upload scanned pictures of photo and signature
  • Pay the application fee (General – INR 500 and SC/ST/PH – INR 250)
  • Submit and save the confirmation page

Application Fee

  • Candidates are required to pay the Exam Fee as per their category. The application fee can be paid via online mode through Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card etc.
  • General/OBC/OEC Candidates – Rs.500/-
  • SC/ST/PWD Candidates – Rs.250/-

Application Process for Kerala TET 2024

The general application process for Kerala TET 2024 comprises the following steps:

  1. Visit the official websites https://ktet.kerala.gov.in/ to access the Prospectus, Notification, and facility for online submission of applications.
  2. Steps to Apply for KTET 2024:a. Initiate the process by making the required fee payment.b. Pay the application fee using Debit card/Credit Card/Net Banking or through challan.c. Access the official website and provide the Transaction ID or SB collect reference number, mobile number, Date of Birth, and other requested details on the login page.d. Fill in the academic and personal information as prompted.e. Upload scanned copies of your signature and photograph.f. Upon completion of the upload process, save the page.g. Review the information provided, ensuring accuracy, and then proceed to click the “Final Submit” button.h. After submission, candidates are advised to take a printout of the application submission page and the challan for future reference.i. Send the required documents along with certificate copies to the Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan.

Exam Process

KTET exam process 2024 includes the following steps:

Step 1: Fill KTET application form

Candidates need to submit their KTET application form online on the official website of Pareeksha Bhavan. Along with the application, form aspirants need to submit the receipt of online payment or Chalan and a copy of the certificates at Pareeksha Bhavan. Candidates can select the district of their test centre while filling the application form for the KTET exam.

Aspirants can pay KTET examination fee by Credit Card/Debit Card, Net Banking or by submitting Challan in cash in Account Number- 67371493960 Kerala 16 TET such that it is drawn in favour of the Director, SCERT, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram at any branch of State Bank of Travancore.

Step 2: Download KTET admit card

Candidates need to download their KTET admit card from the official website of Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan. No separate admit card will be sent to aspirants by post. KTET admit card contains the candidate’s name and test centre details. Click Here

Step 3: Appear for KTET exam

KTET Category 1, 2, 3 and 4 papers are of two and a half hour duration each. Candidates need to reach their KTET test centre at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam. Aspirants need to attempt the KTET exam offline on the OMR sheet.

Step 4: Check KTET result

The result for KTET is declared on the official website of Pareeksha Bhavan. Candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the exam are declared pass and awarded the KTET certificate.

Syllabus

Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan prescribes the KTET syllabus 2024 for Category 1, 2, 3 and 4 papers. It is important for candidates to know the KTET syllabus 2024 to be familiar with the total number of subjects, the number of questions, important topics and marks distribution. The KTET syllabus differs for all the categories such as Category 1 for Lower Primary classes, Category 2 for Upper Primary classes, Category 3 for High School classes and Category 4 for Language Teachers, Specialist Teachers and Physical Education teachers.
