The Department of Humanities & Social Sciences (DHSS) at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is inviting applications for admission to the 2-year Master Program in Human Resource Management (MHRM) for the academic session 2024-26.

About MHRM Program
Since 1982, IIT Kharagpur has been offering an MTech program in Human Resource Development & Management. In 2010, the Department restructured the program into Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) to meet the evolving demands of the business landscape. The MHRM curriculum is industry-oriented, delivered by dedicated faculty, and includes industrial exposure through guest lectures, challenging internships, and stimulating live projects in both public and private sectors. With strong alumni support, the program aims to produce business leaders, strategists, and managers committed to societal service. MHRM emphasizes analytical skills and quantitative aptitude, aligning with top-tier management programs globally, making it a premier educational offering.
Important Dates
- Beginning of online submission of application form: First week of January 2024
- Last Date of Online Application Form: 25th February 2024; 11:59 pm
- GD/PI: 15th – 17th March 2024 (Mumbai and Bangalore) 22nd – 24th March 2024 (Kolkata and Delhi)
- Declaration of Admission Results: 25th April to 05th May 2024 (Tentative)
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for admission to the MHRM Program at IIT Kharagpur should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master’s degree meeting the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree of minimum 4-year duration in engineering, technology, pharmacy, medicine, or similar disciplines; OR
- Master’s degree in any subject
- General and NC-OBC candidates: Minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale)
- SC/ST/PwD candidates: Minimum of 55% marks (or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale)
- For both cases, if the CGPA is on a different scale than 10.0, eligibility will be calculated accordingly
- CGPA will not be converted into percentage marks if the degree awarding institute provides marks in the CGPA system. Admission will be based on the CGPA awarded in the transcript
- Selection of students in the final year will be provisional, pending completion of all examination requirements before joining the Institute, with submission of mark sheet/certificate by October 31, 2024
- Admission to reserved category candidates will follow Government of India rules

- After final submission, candidates can generate a copy of their application for future reference
Admission Process:
- The admission process is highly selective and primarily based on performance in the national-level CAT examination.
Selection Procedure
The selection process for admission to the 2024-26 batch of MHRM at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), IIT Kharagpur, involves two steps:
- Shortlisting for Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD-PI): Candidates who have successfully applied to the program are initially shortlisted for offline GD-PI sessions.
- Final Admission Selection: Candidates selected through the GD-PI process are evaluated based on a cumulative performance score.
The institute reserves the right to modify the selection process from offline to online or any other mode as per organizational requirements. The final mode of conduct for the selection process will be communicated to the candidates through the call letter.
