About MBA Program
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at IIT Guwahati is a two-year (four semesters) residential program. It is designed to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience that includes classroom teaching, case studies, projects, and industry internships. The program aims to bridge the gap between technical expertise and corporate leadership, enabling students to make informed business decisions. By equipping students with the ability to understand both technical complexities and business dynamics, the program helps in fostering invaluable corporate assets in today’s fiercely competitive and dynamically evolving market.
Important Dates
- Opening of Application Portal for Submission of Applications: January 18, 2024.
- Closing of Application Portal: 05:00 PM on February 19, 2024.
- Selection process will commence from March 2024. Please watch the School of Business website for regular updates.

Eligibility Criteria
Prospective candidates applying to the MBA Program at the School of Business at IIT Guwahati must satisfy the following criteria:
- A valid score in the Common Admissions Test (CAT).
- A Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree with at least 60% marks or a minimum CPI or CGPA of 6.0 out of 10.
- For SC/ST/PwD candidates, a relaxation of 5% in marks (i.e., minimum 55%) or equivalent in CGPA (i.e., minimum 5.50 on a 10-point scale) is permissible.
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
- The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

Selection Process
Selection for the MBA Programme at the School of Business will be conducted through a two-stage process. In Stage 1, applicants’ profiles will be evaluated to determine a composite score for shortlisting them for Stage 2.
Stage 1:
The shortlisting will be based on a composite score derived from the evaluation of the following parameters:
- Performance in CAT* – 70% Weightage
- Gender Diversity** – 10% Weightage
- Work Experience – 7% Weightage
- Performance in Class XII (or Equivalent) – 5% Weightage
- Performance in Graduation Degree – 5% Weightage
- Performance in Post Graduation Degree – 3% Weightage
Note:
- Only valid CAT Score cards will be considered. ** 10% score will be awarded to non-male candidates.
Stage 2:
Shortlisted candidates from Stage 1 will proceed to Stage 2, which involves a personal interview. Final selection will be based on performance in the following parameters:
a) Performance in CAT – 40%
b) Performance in Personal Interview – 40%
c) Work Experience – 10%
d) Performance in Graduation Degree – 10%
