About IIT Goa
The Indian Institute of Technology Goa was established in 2016 by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India. The institute offers undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and PhD courses to students across Engineering and various other streams. IIT Goa provides a unique learning experience to students, aiming to prepare them to become responsible managers, leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals.
Admission Categories for M.Tech Program:
Category A: Regular M.Tech (Teaching Assistantship Category) Category B: Sponsored/Self-Financed M.Tech (Without Assistantship)

Eligibility Criteria:
Category A:
A.1 – Regular candidate:
- Qualifying degree:
- For GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates: B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. Engg. (4-year)/M.Sc. (Engg.)/MCA with a minimum of 60% marks OR CPI of 6.0 out of 10.0 (or proportional on another scale) OR a first Class as specified by the university awarding the qualifying degree.
- For SC/ST/PWD candidates: B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. Engg. (4-year)/M.Sc. (Engg.)/MCA with a minimum of 55% marks OR CPI of 5.5 out of 10.0 (or proportional on another scale).
- A valid GATE score.
A.2 – B.Tech. Degree holder from an IIT: B.Tech. degree holders from any of the IITs in the above-mentioned disciplines with a CPI ≥ 8.0 will be directly eligible in this category without a GATE score.
Category B:
They are not eligible for the award of Teaching/Research Assistantship. B.1 Commissioned officers of Indian Armed Forces, Officers from Group A cadre and above of the Central Police Organizations (as determined by the Ministry of Home Affairs) with relevant Engineering degrees at the previous level of education. B.2 Candidates sponsored by Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) including PSU Banks with relevant Engineering degrees at the previous level of education. B.3 Sponsored Private Employees and Self-Financed candidates with relevant Engineering degrees at the previous level of education. Valid GATE score OR a minimum of two (2) years of relevant post-qualification professional work experience is required.

Admission Process:
Admission for various M.Tech programs is offered every year to candidates based on their GATE score. All eligible aspirants are required to register on the ‘Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP)’. After successful registration in COAP, candidates have to register in the M.Tech application portal of IIT Goa. Candidates who wish to confirm (accept and freeze) an offer made from IIT Goa must complete the payment of fees within the given time window in COAP.
