Joint M. Tech Program with Taiwanese Universities

A Joint Master’s degree program between the Centre for Nanoscience and Engineering, IISc, and Taiwanese Universities is being launched from the Academic Year 2024-25. The aim is to foster a strong relationship between Indian academia and the semiconductor industry in Taiwan. This program offers students the opportunity to engage with the semiconductor workplace during their Master’s program through academic and industry internships and projects. This initiative aims to keep India at the forefront of the cutting-edge semiconductor technology employment sector in line with the India Semiconductor Mission. The collaborating Taiwanese universities include: National University of Taiwan, National Chiao Tung University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Sun Yat-Sen University.

Eligibility Criteria

Joint M. Tech Programme with Taiwanese Universities

The eligibility criteria for the Joint Master’s degree program in Semiconductor Technology at IISc, when IISc is the parent institute, are as follows:

  1. Applicants must hold a minimum Second Class or equivalent in BE/BTech or an equivalent degree in any discipline, with a GATE paper in EC, EE, IN, ME, MT, XE-C. Alternatively, candidates with an MSc or equivalent degree in Electronics or Physics, with a GATE score in EC, IN, or PH paper, are also eligible. The GATE score card should be valid as of 01 August 2024.

OR

  1. Graduates of any course with a minimum duration of four years, from any Centrally Funded Technical Institution, with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 out of 10, are eligible to apply for this program under the CFTI Mode of Entry without needing to qualify in GATE. The eligibility criteria remain the same when the Taiwanese University is the parent institute.

Application Fee:

  • General / OBC / EWS – Rs. 800
  • SC / ST / PwD (Persons with Disability) – Rs. 400

*The fee is non-refundable; any bank or payment gateway service charges must be borne by the applicant.
Payment options: Online payment through net banking, debit card, credit card, UPI.

Selection procedure

For the Joint M.Tech Programme with Taiwanese Universities:

For GATE qualified applicants: Selection is based on 70% of the GATE score and 30% of the performance in the interview.

For students from CFTIs (Graduates of any course with a minimum duration of 4 years) with CGPA ≥ 8.0: Selection is based on 70% weightage on CAM (Career Analysis Marks) score and 30% performance in the interview.
