PhD Program Offered:
IIM Udaipur offers a PhD program in five specialized areas. Applicants may choose to apply to only one of the following areas:
- Decision Sciences
- Finance and Accounting
- Marketing
- Operations Management
- Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management
Important Dates:
- Application Period: November 10, 2023, to February 9, 2024
- Announcement of Shortlist: March 8, 2024
- RAT/Interview Date (Tentative): April 1 to 5, 2024
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree program after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree program after a 3-year bachelor’s degree program, with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
- A professional qualification (completed) such as CA (ICAI), ICWA, CS with a Bachelor’s degree with at least 60% marks.
- A 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree with the equivalent of 75% marks in aggregate.

- Candidates can apply to only one area out of the four: Operations Management, Marketing, Finance & Accounting, Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management.
Selection Procedure:
Each area has a distinct selection process:
- Operations Management: Shortlisting, Exam, and Interviews
- Decision Sciences: Screening of Applications, Research Aptitude Test + Personal Interview
- Marketing: Screening of Applications, Written Analysis, Virtual and Physical Personal Interviews
- Finance and Accounting: Two-stage process involving shortlisting and in-person interviews
- Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management: Screening of Applications, Personal Interview + Statement of Purpose
Financial Support:
- No course fees for PhD students
- Stipend: INR 30,000 per month in the first year, with a 10% annual increment for up to five years
- Contingency grants, starting with INR 50,000 in the first year and INR 25,000 annually from the second to fifth years
- One-time allowance of up to INR 50,000 for a laptop/PC, with the option to use up to INR 25,000 from the first year’s stationery grant for this purpose
- Research grants of INR 150,000 available for conducting thesis-related research.
