IIM Ranchi invites applications from eligible candidates for admission to the PhD Program for the Academic year 2024. The Doctoral Program in Management at IIM Ranchi is designed for individuals with a keen interest in academia, research, or consultancy. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the program, a candidate must meet one of the following qualifications:
i) Possess a Master’s degree or Post Graduate Diploma or its equivalent in any discipline with first class.
ii) Hold a B.Tech/4 Years Degree with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 or equivalent.
iii) Hold any professional qualification such as CA/ICWA/CS with a B.Com/Degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade point average.

Additionally, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent) in all their public examinations starting from the secondary level. While work experience in industry or academics is not mandatory, it will be given due credit in the selection process.

Candidates appearing for their final year examination in the current academic year may also apply. However, their admission to the program will be provisional, subject to successful completion of all requirements for obtaining the relevant degree before 30th June 2024.

Age Limit: Candidates must not be more than 55 years.

Application Process

• andidates are advised to meticulously fill out the online application as no changes will be allowed after clicking on the SUBMIT button. Uploading a photo and signature is mandatory, with a maximum size limit of 500KB for the photo and 200KB for the signature, in .jpg, .jpeg, or .png format only.

Selection Process

• Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria mentioned above are required to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs. Alternatively, those who have qualified in GATE, GRE, GMAT, and NET-JRF (UGC/CSIR) examinations can also apply in their relevant area of specialization. Scores from any of these examinations, including CAT, taken during the last two years (i.e., on or after July 1, 2021), will be considered valid for admission to the Ph.D. program.
• Candidates who have already completed a one/two year full-time classroom-based Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or in any specialized area of management (e.g., PGD in HRM, Agri-Business Management, etc.) from any of the IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or equivalent in the last four years preceding June 30, 2024, are exempted from this requirement and can apply directly through the prescribed Application Form.
• Candidates short-listed based on their academic record and performance in the competitive examinations mentioned above will be called for a seminar and personal interview for final selection in April/May 2024. Successful candidates will receive an admission offer by the end of May 2024.

Financial and Other Supports

IIM Ranchi offers excellent facilities in library, computing, and faculty resources.

Financial support provided to Ph.D. students includes:

• Financial support for 4 years.
• Tuition waiver for the entire program.
• Rent-free accommodation for bachelor and married single students on campus.
• Stipend of Rs. 35,000 per month for the first two years, which increases to Rs. 40,000 per month after qualifying the Comprehensive examinations at the end of the second year.
• Contingency allowance of Rs. 100,000 spread over 4 years for the purchase of books, stationery, electronic devices, software, and field visits.
• Rs. 50,000 in the first year/second year for the purchase of computers, software, and peripherals.
• Financial support for presenting papers in 4 domestic and 1 international conference, including conference grants in the first four years.
