Eligibility Criteria
For Regular PhD
- A master’s degree or Two-year Post Graduate Diploma (earned after completing a bachelor’s degree with 55% marks or equivalent) or a 5-year Integrated master’s degree (earned after completing higher secondary school in the 10+2 pattern) in any field with 55% marks or equivalent. OR
- Professional qualification – CA, CS, CMA (with a minimum of 50% marks) in addition to a bachelor’s degree (with at least 55% marks). OR
- A four-year/eight-semester bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 6.5/10 or comparable grades.
For Executive PhD
- A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree program (Full Time) with at least 65% marks in aggregate after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program (Full Time) with at least 65% marks or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree program (Full Time) with at least 65% marks after a 3-year bachelor’s degree program (Full Time) with at least 65% marks, or its equivalent grade wherever a grading system is followed. Candidates applying based on the master’s degree program should have at least 2 years of professional experience after the master’s degree. OR
- A candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree program (Full Time) should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. Candidates applying based on the Bachelor’s degree program should have a minimum of 4 years of professional experience after the Bachelor’s degree. OR
- A Candidate with professional qualifications CA, ICWA, CS (with at least 60% aggregate marks) along with a B.Com/Degree (with at least 60% aggregate marks). Candidates applying based on the mentioned degree should have at least 2 yrs. of professional experience after completing their professional degree.

Selection Process
- The selection of candidates for admission at IIM, Mumbai, is a three-step process: initial screening and shortlisting; written test; and Research Presentation and Personal Interview.
- Candidates applying to the Ph.D. Programme are required to take the Common Admission Test (CAT) or a standard test in lieu of CAT. Candidates applying to the Ph.D. Programme in their Areas can take GRE/GMAT/UGC JRF/GATE in their areas in lieu of CAT.
