About Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT)
The Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT), officially called the IPM Aptitude Test (IPM AT) by the Indian Institute of Management Indore, is the entrance examination for IIM Indore's five-year Integrated Programme in Management. The programme combines undergraduate foundation study with postgraduate management study. The first three years build foundations across quantitative and social sciences and humanities; the final two years follow the management curriculum alongside the institute's postgraduate management students. Successful participants receive the awards specified by IIM Indore under the applicable dual-degree programme requirements.
Cycle update: IIM Indore's official admission procedure and admissions page publish the 2026-31 batch criteria, application window, test structure and notices. The 2026 test took place on 4 May 2026, 2:00 PM-4:00 PM. As of 11 October 2026, the official pages reviewed did not publish IPM AT 2027 dates or a 2027 admission procedure. Do not treat estimated dates or the 2026 fee and eligibility rules as confirmed for 2027.
IPMAT is also used informally for other management entrance tests. This page covers IIM Indore's IPM AT only; it is distinct from JIPMAT and from separate admission tests conducted by other IIMs.

Eligibility (2026-31 batch)
IIM Indore's 2026-31 domestic admission procedure required candidates to have passed Class X and to have passed Class XII/HSC or an equivalent examination in 2024 or 2025, or be appearing in 2026. Candidates expected to complete Class XII by 31 July 2026 could apply provisionally, subject to producing the required documents. The 2026 age criterion was birth on or after 1 August 2006, with a five-year relaxation for SC/ST/PwD candidates (birth on or after 1 August 2001). These are 2026-cycle criteria only; consult the next admission procedure for 2027 age and qualifying-year rules.
The 2026 procedure described category documentation for NC-OBC, SC, ST, PwD and EWS applicants. Candidates must use the category and proof requirements stated in the current official procedure. The 2026 notice did not set a minimum Class X/XII percentage in the cited eligibility section; IIM Indore reserves decisions on equivalence and recognition of qualifying examinations.
Application fee
For domestic applicants, the 2026 procedure set a non-refundable, non-transferable online application fee of Rs. 4,130 (inclusive of 18% GST), or Rs. 2,065 for SC/ST/PwD applicants. The 2026 application period ran from 2 February to 14 March and was subsequently extended to 17 March 2026. These amounts and dates are not a confirmed 2027 schedule. Check the active admission procedure for current charges, categories and payment instructions before applying.
IPM AT exam pattern and marking scheme
The official 2026 admission procedure specified three timed sections: Quantitative Ability (multiple-choice questions), Quantitative Ability (short-answer questions), and Verbal Ability (multiple-choice questions). Each section was allotted 40 minutes, for a total test time of two hours. Candidates had to answer in a pre-specified section order. Each question carried four marks; wrong answers incurred a one-mark deduction except in the Quantitative Ability short-answer section, which had no negative marking. The official procedure did not specify a fixed question count in the pattern table.
| Section | Question type | 2026 section time | Marking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quantitative Ability | Multiple choice | 40 minutes | +4 correct; -1 incorrect |
| Quantitative Ability | Short answer | 40 minutes | +4 correct; no penalty for incorrect answer |
| Verbal Ability | Multiple choice | 40 minutes | +4 correct; -1 incorrect |
| Total | Three sections in fixed order | 120 minutes | Section and overall shortlisting rules apply |
Shortlisting and admission
The 2026 admission process used section-wise minimum marks and positive raw scores to form an eligible pool, followed by category-wise shortlisting for a Personal Interview. Candidates had to meet the minimum performance requirements at the interview stage to remain eligible for final selection. The final category-wise merit list and provisional offers used the composite-score method and reservation rules in the official admission procedure. Cutoffs are determined by the Admissions Committee and should not be inferred from past-year scores alone.
