IIITDM Kurnool PhD Admission 2023 – The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kurnool, is now accepting applications for admission to its PhD Program in Science and Engineering departments for the academic session commencing in November 2023. IIITDM Kurnool, established in 2015, is recognized as an Institute of National Importance and is fully funded and managed by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. Its primary goal is to serve as a Center of Excellence in the realms of Design and Manufacturing-oriented Engineering Education and Research.

Eligibility Criteria
Here are the eligibility criteria for Full-time PhD Admission under the Visvesvaraya Fellowship in Engineering and Sciences at IIITDM Kurnool:
PhD in Engineering
- Applicants holding Master’s degree:
- PhD in Engineering: Candidates should have a Master’s degree (M.Tech/M.S. (Research)) in Engineering/Technology in the relevant field of study with a strong academic record. This includes a first class with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or CGPA≥6.5 (out of 10) in both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) degrees.
- Computer Science & Eng.: Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering/AI/IT or equivalent. Applicants should have qualified in the GATE exam at any time.
- Electronics & Communication Eng.: Master’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering or equivalent. Applicants should have qualified in the GATE exam at any time.
- Mechanical Eng.: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Applicants should have qualified in the GATE exam at any time.
- Applicants holding Bachelor’s degree:
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology may be considered for direct admission to the PhD program in engineering departments under the following conditions:
- A B.Tech degree holder from IIT with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 on a 10-point scale or with a valid GATE score.
- A Bachelor’s degree holder in Engineering/Technology from any other university who is among the top 10 rank holders in the university and has a valid GATE score (Proof of Top 10 rank holder certificate should be attached).
- A Bachelor’s degree holder in Engineering/Technology from a reputed R&D organization with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or CGPA ≥ 6.5 (out of 10) and a proven research record.
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology may be considered for direct admission to the PhD program in engineering departments under the following conditions:
Ph.D. in Sciences
- Physics: Applicants should have a Master’s degree in Physics/Applied Physics/Material Science with a strong academic record. This includes a first class with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or CGPA ≥ 6.5 (out of 10) in both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) degrees. Additionally, candidates should have qualified in the GATE/CSIR-NET exam at any time.
- Mathematics: Candidates should have an M.Sc. in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics with a good academic record, including a first class with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or CGPA ≥ 6.5 (out of 10) in both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) degrees. Applicants should have qualified in the GATE/CSIR-NET/NBHM exam.
PhD Admission: (Under Visvesvaraya Fellowship)
Admission with Financial Assistance:
- Financial assistance is provided to selected scholars based on the prescribed rules of MoE.
- 1st and 2nd Year : Rs. 38,750*/-
- 3rd, 4th & 5th year: Rs .43,750*/-
Application Fee
- Gen/OBC candidates: Rs.500/-
- SC/ST/PwD candidates: Rs.250/-

Application Process
If you are interested and meet the eligibility criteria, please follow the steps below to submit your application for the Ph.D. program:
- Visit the Institute’s website at www.iiitk.ac.in.
- Utilize the online Admission to Ph.D. program portal available on the website to submit your application.
- As part of your application, you will need to upload certain enclosures as separate PDF documents. These enclosures include your GATE scorecard, educational certificates, experience certificates, and the receipt for online fee payment.
- Please note that there won’t be any downloadable forms available. All application materials must be submitted online through the portal.
- After completing the application process, it is recommended that you take a printout of your application for your personal records.

Selection Procedure
Eligible candidates who meet the minimum educational qualifications and any additional criteria established by the institute from time to time will be invited for a written test and/or interview.
The selection committee will consider the candidates’ academic records and their performance in the written test, which is based on the GATE 2023 syllabus, and/or the interview. Based on these assessments, the committee will determine the candidates selected for admission to the Ph.D. program.
