What is GU-ART?
GU-ART is the primary mechanism for merit-based admission to Post Graduate programmes.
- Ranking vs. Pass/Fail: GU-ART is purely a ranking tool. Your undergraduate marks verify your eligibility, but your seat allocation is dictated entirely by your performance in the GU-ART.
- The “Other University” Rule: For candidates from universities other than Goa University, admissions are often based on a first-come-first-serve priority using either GU-ART scores or PG-CUET (NTA) scores, subject to availability.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the GU-ART examination, candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination or equivalent examination from a recognized board. The candidate must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination for admission to undergraduate courses. For postgraduate courses, the candidate must have obtained a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying examination.
GU ART Application Form
- GU releases the GU-ART application form 2026 at unigoa.ac.in.
- Students should fill and submit the GU-ART online application form before the last date.
GU-ART Exam Pattern
The GU-ART examination is a computer-based test (CBT) that consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The duration of the examination is two hours, and the test is conducted in English. The examination consists of four sections – General Knowledge, English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Subject-specific questions.

Decision Matrix: Test Requirements
Not all courses fall under the standard GU-ART umbrella. Use this matrix to verify if you need to prepare for GU-ART or an alternative assessment.
| Course Category | Admission Basis |
| Most MA/M.Sc/M.Com Programmes | GU-ART (Mandatory) |
| MBA / MBA (Financial Services) | Exempt from GU-ART (Separate Selection) |
| M.Sc. Marine Biotechnology | Exempt from GU-ART |
| Integrated M.Sc. Data Science | Subject-specific entrance/Interview |
| B.Ed Programmes | Managed via Directorate of Higher Education |

Expert Teacher Tips for the 90-Minute MCQ Format
Tie-Breaker Knowledge: In the event of a score tie, the University uses Section III scores as the first tie-breaker, followed by Section II. Focus your revision on these higher-weight sections.
Strategic Guessing: With 0.5 marks deducted for wrong answers, guessing is risky. Only attempt a question if you can eliminate at least two incorrect options.
Section Management: The paper is tiered by difficulty. Start with Section I (Least difficult) to build confidence and secure “low-hanging fruit” marks before moving to the time-consuming Section III (Most difficult).
