Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates applying for the PhD program must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Completion of a 1-year/2-semester master’s degree program after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree program after a 3-year bachelor’s degree program, or qualifications deemed equivalent to a master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body.
- Minimum aggregate marks of 55% or its equivalent grade on a grading scale where applicable.
- Alternatively, candidates with equivalent qualifications from foreign educational institutions accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency recognized by a statutory authority in their home country are eligible.
- A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade is applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories as per UGC guidelines.
- Candidates with a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a grading scale where applicable. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade is applicable for eligible categories as per UGC guidelines.
- Candidates who have completed an M.Phil. program with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade are eligible. The same relaxation of 5% marks applies to eligible categories as per UGC guidelines.

Candidates can apply for the PhD program online via the university website https://ddugu.ac.in/.
Steps to Follow:
- Fill and submit registration details.
- Print the registration form and proceed to login.
- Pay the application fee.
- Fill out the online application form.
- Print the application form for reference.
Application Fee:
- General / OBC: Rs. 1500/-
- SC / ST: Rs. 1000/-
Selection Process:
(A) Full-Time Research Scholar:
The final selection of candidates for the Ph.D. Programme via the Research Entrance Test (RET) shall be determined as follows:
- 70% weightage to the RET.
- 30% weightage to performance in the interview.
During the interview, candidates must present their research interests and area to the Doctoral Research Committee (DRC), ensuring the following:
- Demonstrated competence for the proposed research.
- Feasibility of conducting the research at the university.
- Potential contribution of the proposed research to knowledge.
The RET paper consists of:
- 50% research methodology.
- 50% subject-specific questions.
Foreign nationals, whether self-financing or scholarship holders, admitted through their country’s Embassy/High Commission or under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with foreign institutions, are exempt from the RET and interview.
Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme through RET must achieve:
- At least 50% marks for general candidates.
- At least 45% marks for reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PWD), as per government regulations and the Minimum Standards and Procedure for the Award of MPhil/Ph.D. Degrees Regulations, 2022.
Candidates admitted through RET must also undergo an interview before the DRC for further assessment.
The final merit of admission is determined by the total marks secured in RET and the interview/viva-voce performance.
(B) Part-Time Research Scholar:
Selection for the part-time Ph.D. program is based on a separate test, with:
- 70% weightage given to a 1000-word write-up submitted by the applicant.
- 30% weightage given to work experience, Academic Index, and performance in the interview.
(C) International Research Scholar:
