Established as one of the 16 new Central Universities by the Government of India under the Central Universities Act, 2009, the institution was subsequently renamed Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) in 2014. Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria for admission to the Ph.D. program:
- A Master’s degree in the relevant or allied subject with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade from a recognized University/Institution.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled categories are eligible for a 5% relaxation, reducing the minimum marks requirement to 50%.
- Qualifying Examinations and the Minimum Percentage of Marks required for admission to the Ph.D. program in different schools will be detailed separately.
Application Process:
To apply for admission, candidates should follow these steps:
- Visit the university's website at www.cusb.ac.in.
- Complete the online application form.
- Upload recent passport-size photographs, scanned signatures, and scanned copies of supporting documents.
- Carefully review the provided instructions before submitting the application.
Application Fee (Expected):
- General/EWS: Rs. 800/-
- OBC/SC/ST/PwD: Rs. 500/-
Selection Process:
The selection process for the Ph.D. program is as follows:
- Interviews will be conducted for candidates who have submitted the online application form and meet the eligibility criteria.
- Interviews will be conducted in physical mode (offline). However, in exceptional cases, candidates residing outside the country may be allowed to appear in online mode upon request and approval of the Competent Authority.
- The interview will be worth 100 marks, and candidates applying for Walk-in-Interview for Ph.D. admission must obtain a minimum of 60% (for UR & EWS) or 55% (for OBC/SC/ST/PH) to qualify.
- The interview/interaction/viva-voce will be scored based on the following criteria:
- Satisfactory defense of a 6-8 page research plan submitted by the candidate: 30% (15%+15%)
- Evaluation of the candidate's competence for the proposed research and ability to contribute to new/additional knowledge or subject expertise: 40% (20%+20%)
- Overall assessment of the candidate, considering attitude, work ethic, dedication, responses, presence of mind, etc.: 30%
