The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued the CTET 2024 January Notification. They are inviting online applications from prospective candidates who wish to participate in the 18th Edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), which will be held in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode on January 21, 2024. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can complete the CTET 2024 Application Form on the official website. Those aspiring to become primary or elementary teachers must take the CTET exam to acquire the eligibility certificate. Important Dates

For candidates interested in applying, it’s crucial to take note of the significant dates for CTET 2024 as follows:

  • Duration of On-line Application: 07.03.2024 to 02.04.2024
  • Last date for submission of on-line Application: (Before 02.04.2024 11:59PM)
  • Last date for submission of fee: 02.04.2024 (Before 11:59 PM)
  • Online corrections if any, in the particulars uploaded by the candidate : 08.04.2024 to 12.04.2024 (No corrections shall be allowed under any circumstances after this date)
  • Download Admit Card : Two Days before the day of examination
  • Date of Examination : 07th July, 2024
  • Exam timing
    • PAPER-II – 09:30 AM TO 12:00 NOON
    • PAPER-I – 02:00 PM TO 04:30 PM

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualifications for Becoming a Teacher for Classes I-V:

  1. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by any name).
  2. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (as per NCTE Recognition Norms and Procedure Regulations).
  3. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).
  4. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  5. Graduation with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) qualification. Those who obtain B.Ed from any NCTE recognized institution must complete a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by NCTE within two years of their appointment as a primary teacher.

Minimum Qualifications for Becoming a Teacher for Classes VI-VIII:

  1. Graduation and passing or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by any name).
  2. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  3. Graduation with at least 45% marks and passing or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) according to NCTE Recognition Norms and Procedure Regulations.
  4. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).
  5. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  6. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

Note: Candidates from reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled, are eligible for a relaxation of up to 5% in the qualifying marks for minimum educational qualification.

Diploma/Degree Course in Teacher Education: Only courses in teacher education recognized by the NCTE will be considered for this notification. However, for Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed. (Special Education), courses recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) will be considered.

Training Requirements:

  • Individuals with D.Ed. (Special Education) or a similar qualification must undergo a 6-month Special Program in Elementary Education recognized by NCTE after their appointment.
  • Those pursuing teacher education courses specified by NCTE or RCI, as applicable, must meet the respective requirements.

Application Process

The step-by-step application process for CTET has been mentioned below. Candidates have to follow the registration process to apply for the CTET Exam

Candidates can apply for CTET January 2024 ‘ON-LINE’ through CTET website https://ctet.nic.in 

Registration Process

  • Authentication Form: Fill details like State, Identification type (select any Identity as applicable), Candidate’s Name, Date of Birth and Gender.
  • Fill Online Application Form: Fill complete online Application Form and choose a password. After submission, a Registration Number/Application Number gets generated. Note down the Registration No./Application No. For subsequent login, system generated Registration No. / Application No. and chosen Password will be used.
  • Online Submission: Candidates can apply ‘Online’ through CTET website www.ctet.nic.in. The candidate should supply all details while filling the Online Form and upload their scanned images of the latest photograph & signature. After successful submission of data and requisite fee Candidates are required to take printout of Confirmation Page.

Application Fee

For General/OBC

  • Only Paper-I or II – Rs.1000/-
  • Both Paper-I and II – Rs.1200/-

SC/ST/Differently Abled Person

  • Only Paper-I or II – Rs.500/-
  • Both Paper-I and II – Rs.600/-

Note: GST as applicable will be charged extra by the Banks

Mode of Payment

  • Remittance through E-Challan by depositing the prescribed fee in CTET Exam Fee Account with Syndicate Bank or Canara Bank.
  • Payment by Syndicate Bank e-Challan, Canara Bank e-Challan & (Payment by Debit Card / Credit Card)

Exam Pattern

  • Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Marking Scheme: Each carrying one mark, with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking.
  • Number of Paper: There will be two papers of CTET

Paper I: For a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V.

Paper II: For a person who intent to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII

Note: A person who intends to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both Paper I and Paper II.

Paper I (for Classes I to V) Primary Stage

  • Duration of Exam: Two-and-a-half hours
  • Structure and Content (All Compulsory): (Appendix I)
  • Child Development and Pedagogy – 30 MCQs & 30 Marks
  • Language I (compulsory) – 30 MCQs & 30 Marks
  • Language II (compulsory) – 30 MCQs & 30 Marks
  • Mathematics – 30 MCQs & 30 Marks
  • Environmental Studies – 30 MCQs & 30 Marks
  • Total – 150 MCQs and 150 Marks

Paper II (for Classes VI to VIII) Elementary Stage

  • Duration of Exam: Two-and-a-half hours
  • Structure and Content (All Compulsory): (Appendix I)
  • Child Development and Pedagogy (compulsory)
  • Language I (compulsory)
  • Language II (compulsory)
  • Mathematics and Science
  • Environmental Studies
  • Total – 150 MCQs and 150 Marks

Qualifying Marks & Award

  • A person who scores 60% or more in the TET exam will be considered a TET pass.
  • School Management (Govt., local bodies, Govt. aided and unaided) may consider giving concessions to persons belonging to SC/ST, OBC, differently-abled persons, etc.in accordance with their extant reservation policy.

Validity Period of CTET Certificate

  • Validity Period of CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be seven years from the date of declaration of the result for all categories. There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET Certificate.
  • A person who has qualified CTET may also appear again for improving his/her Score

Admit Card

  • Candidates may download the Admit Card from the CTET official website only and appear for the exam at the given Centre
  • In case of any discrepancy noticed in the admit card regarding particulars of the candidate, photograph and signature or any other information that varies from the confirmation page, he/she may immediately contact the CTET unit for necessary corrections.
  • In case the confirmation page is not generated after depositing the requisite fees, the candidate should approach the Joint Secretary (CTET), CTET Unit.
