Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Possession of a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST categories) in the subject concerned or in any allied subject from a recognized university.
  2. Admission to the Ph.D. Programme is conducted through a two-stage process:a. Qualifying at National level/state-level entrance tests conducted by competent bodies, or equivalent tests conducted by the University (Dr. BRAOU).b. Fulfillment of one of the following eligibility criteria:
    • Passage of JRF / UGC-NET/CSIR-NET / SET /SLET/ M.Phil. etc.
    • Qualification in the Entrance Test conducted by Dr. BRAOU.
    c. Distribution of admissions: 60% of notified vacancies are filled by NET/SET/SLET/JRF qualified candidates, while the remaining 40% are filled through the University Entrance Test followed by Interviews.d. In the event of vacancies remaining unfilled in either category, candidates from another category may be requisitioned to fill vacant slots in order of merit, adhering to Reservation norms.
  3. Meeting one or more eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission into the Ph.D. program. Admission is subject to various factors including availability of vacancies in the Department, availability of Research Supervisor(s), physical facilities in the subject concerned (for science subjects), academic record, and performance in the Ph.D. admission interview.

Application Process:

  1. Registration for the PhD Entrance Exam is done exclusively online.
  2. Candidates are advised to visit the official website to complete the online application.
  3. Fill out the prescribed application form provided.
  4. Pay the required fee at any TS/AP online centers or through Debit/Credit card.
  5. Upload the relevant certificates as mentioned in the Application Form/Synopsis through the online mode.

Application Fee:

  • Candidates are required to pay Rs. 15,000 (Rupees Fifteen Thousand only) as adjudication fee at the time of submission of the Thesis.
  • The Registration fee for online submission of the application form is Rs. 1500/- (Rs. 1000/- for SC/ST/BC/PWD candidates).

Admission Procedure:

Admission to the PhD Program will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) comprising of MCQs (objective type). The Entrance Test will adhere to the UGC/CSIR/NET syllabus.

The syllabus is available on the University website www.braouonline.in.

The Entrance test consists of two papers, as detailed in the Examination Pattern mentioned below.

Fee Particulars/ Payment of Fee:

  1. Tuition Fee:
    • Candidates are required to pay an amount of Rs. 15,000 (Rupees Fifteen Thousand only) per annum for three years for the Ph.D. program.
  2. Admission Fee:
    • An amount of Rs. 5,000 (Rupees Five Thousand only) shall be paid towards the admission fee for the Programme.
  3. Additional Costs for Science Students:
    • Science students with laboratory components are responsible for bearing the cost of consumables, fieldwork, and equipment hire.
  4. Extension Fee:
    • Candidates who are unable to submit the Thesis within the prescribed maximum period will be granted an extension of one more year upon payment of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only).
  5. Adjudication Fee:
    • At the time of Thesis submission, candidates must pay Rs. 15,000 (Rupees Fifteen Thousand only) as adjudication fee.
