Banasthali Vidyapith, located in Tonk, Rajasthan, is accepting applications for the Research Entrance Test (RET) aimed at facilitating admission to the PhD Program across various disciplines for the academic session 2023 (December Session). Recognized as a fully residential women’s higher education institute, Banasthali Vidyapith provides a comprehensive educational experience spanning from primary education to the Ph.D. level.
Established as one of the five higher education institutes in India exclusively for women, Banasthali Vidyapith has, over the course of seventy-five years, grown into a National Centre for women’s education. Eligibility Criteria
Prospective Ph.D. candidates must hold either a 1-year/2-semester master’s degree following a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s program, or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree after a 3-year bachelor’s program, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the relevant regulatory body. They should have attained a minimum aggregate of 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA), or 50% for candidates from SC/ST/Differently-Abled/EWS categories. Alternatively, candidates who have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission are also eligible. Applications for admission to the Ph.D. program can be submitted at any point during the academic year. Successful applicants will conduct their research under the supervision of an approved mentor at the Vidyapith.
Candidates with a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree must have secured a minimum of 75% aggregate marks or equivalent on a grading scale, with allowances made for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, EWS categories.
All candidates, except those applying to the Department of Performing Arts, Visual Art, Design, and Architecture, are required to take the Research Entrance Test (RET). Successful completion of the RET is compulsory for enrollment; until then, admission is provisional.
Exceptions to the RET requirement may be granted to Ph.D. candidates who have qualified the NET, SLET, GATE, GPAT, or hold an M.Phil with 55% marks (having been admitted to the M.Phil. program through entrance examination).

- Pattern of the RET question paper: Total 100 multiple choice questions (All carry equal marks):
- 50 questions on Research Aptitude
- 50 questions on Relevant Subject
- Passing Criteria: An Entrance Test shall be qualifying with qualifying marks as 50%. A relaxation of 5 % of marks (from 50% to 45%) shall be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/Differently-abled category in the entrance examination.

- Passing Criteria: A Ph.D. scholar has to obtain a minimum of 55% of marks or its equivalent grade in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade/CGPA in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the course work in order to be eligible to continue in the programme and submit the dissertation/thesis.
