"MFC- A Specialized Management Program in Finance & Control for Tomorrow’s Professional Managers.
Over the years, the programme has carved out a distinct niche for itself in the financial world. It offers excellent career opportunities in corporate finance, investment management, financial services, equity research, international finance and related areas. "
In an effort to cope with the enormous expansion, while continuing to maintain its high academic standards, the University of Delhi initiated in the early seventies a new organizational pattern based on the concept of a multi-campus Institution. Following this policy, the University started South Campus in 1973 as an experiment in multi-campus system with focus on inter disciplinary programmes in Social Sciences, Humanities and Applied Sciences.
The Campus, during the course of past two and a half decades, has emerged as a pioneer institution of higher education, learning & research and has acquired an identity of its own.
The Department, at present, offers the following programmes:
A Two-year (full-time) Master of Finance & Control (MFC) Programme
A Ph.D. Programme
The pioneering Two-year (full-time) Master of Finance and Control (MFC) Programme was launched by the University of Delhi in the year 1987-88 at the South Campus .The programme is aimed at equipping students with the requisite skills needed in financial planning , decision making and control. The transformation from the controlled and regulated economy to the liberalised and globalised one since the early 1990's brought about a sea change in the Indian financial environment implying both challenges and opportunities for finance academics as well as professionals. In recognition of the emerging challenge and as its response to re-orient the MFC programme to the unfolding opportunities, the University of Delhi, established the Department of Financial Studies in 1994. The Department which is the first of its kind in India now provides the necessary infrastructural umbrella for servicing the MFC programme in tune with the requirements of the emerging liberalised and globalised financial sector of the country.
The faculty members of the Department are very active in carrying out research studies on contemporary issues in Finance, Accounting, e-business and other related areas.
