Indian Institute of Mass Communication IIMC, New Delhi was established in the year 1965,
Indian Institute of Mass Communication was set up on August 17, 1965 as a department of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. It was registered under the Societies Registration Act on January 22nd, 1966 as an autonomous organization. IIMC was established with the purpose of devising a methodology for the proper utilization of communication resources within the country. The plan for the establishment of IIMC was drawn up by a team of experts including representatives of the UNESCO. In the recent past, IIMC has gained recognition from all over the world as a premier institute for the pursuance of Mass Communication. UNESCO among other international organizations has recognized IIMC as an excellent center for training and research in the fields of journalism and its various branches. Indian Institute of Mass Communication has two campuses located at New Delhi and Dhenkanal (Orissa).
