    Habitat Polytech – a society promoted by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) has been on the fore-front of organising training programmes on "disaster-resistant technologies". Habitat Polytech has already organised training programmes on earthquake and cyclone-resistant technologies at Latur, Uttarkashi, Jabalpur, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Orissa and has gained adequate experience to mobilise communities for disaster preparedness. Now, Habitat Polytech is preparing to implement a project for large scale training and dissemination of disaster-resistant technologies including community preparedness in Gujarat.

    The strategy to implement the project is as follows: Identify potential trainers with engineering background, train them as master trainers and organise Training of Trainers Programmes. This exercise will be done with the help of local collaborators- NGOs/State Agencies. Organise training for masons identified with the help of local collaborators Organise Public Campaign moving from village – to – village and town – to town.
