G. B. Pant Polytechnic was established in 1961. It was named after Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, a renowned freedom fighter and an able administrator. This Polytechnic flaunts its name in the international arena by being the biggest Polytechnic in Asia. The institute is housed in a plot of area of more that 40 acres. It is self dependent as it consists of spacious academic complex, hostel block, cosy residential complex, library, workshop and lush green playgrounds.Govind Ballabh Pant Polytechnic is a premier institute for polytechnic. It is situated in Okhla. The institute was started with three conventional branches of engineering diploma courses ( three years duration ) i.e. Electrical Engg., Mechanical Engg. & Civil Engg in 1961. Later on, in 1966 diploma course in Automobile Engg. Course was added followed by Production Engg. In 1979, Plastic Engg in 1991. In 1972, the Post Diploma course in Refrigeration & Air- conditioning of 1.1/2 years duration was introduced followed by Part-Time evening diploma courses of four years duration in Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering to Provide continuing education to the in service ITI Passed students who are unable to join full time day diploma courses but still wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Eligibility

for Admission : Only Indian Nationals/Nominated candidates are eligible. Age: For full-time Diploma Courses candidate should be below 21 years as on 1st Oct. of the admission year. The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates. The minimum educational qualifications required for admission to the various couses are indicated below. These requirements shall in no case be relaxed. Candidates who have failed or detained or discontinued or disqualified in any Engg./Tech./Pharmacy Diploma Course earlier are not eligible for fresh admission.

G. B. Pant Polytechnic, Okhla, New Delhi-110020, is located behind the okhla industrial estate at a distance if 1 ½ K.M. ( approx.) from Okhla, railway station, south Delhi. A number of buses plied by Delhi Transport Corporation connection the different parts of the city like route number 433,480,47,429,etc, and ‘Bahri Mudrika’ with Modi flour mill ( I K.M. approx.) and bus stop punj sons ( 300 mts) with the institute situated near Nehru Place.
