Centre for Electronics Design and Technology of India (CEDTI) is an Autonomous Scientific Society under Ministry Of Information Technology Govt. of India, with its Headquaters at New Delhi. It operates seven centres located at Aurangabad, Calicut, Gorakhpur, Imphal, Mohali, Jammu, Tejpur.The information technology and telecom sectors have suddenly opened up avenues, which require a very large specially trained manpower. These sectors are highly dynamic and need training and re-training of man-power at a rapid rate. The growing gap of requirement of the industry and its fulfillment has created a challenging situation before manpower training institutes of the country. To meet this challenge most effectively , CEDTI has launched its nation-wide franchising scheme. Under this scheme , CEDTI is establishing its Authorised Training Centres (ATCs) throughout the nation. State-of-the-art training will be provided keeping in view the existing and emerging needs of the industrial and Govt. sectors. The examinations will be conducted by CEDTI and certificates will also be awarded by CEDTI. The scheme will be operated through all the seven centres of CEDTI. Centre For Electronics Design & Technology of India (CEDTI) was set up as a non-profit Scientific Society in 1994 under Department of Electronics, Govt. of India. Attached to it are 7 units located at Aurangabad, Calicut, Gorakhpur, Imphal, SAS Nagar, Srinagar/Jammu and Tezpur working as independent Societies. CEDT, Bangalore is a constituent of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
Center for Electronics Design and Technology of India (CEDTI), is now known as CDAC (Center for Development of Advanced Computing). It came into existence in 1989, in the Electronics Town of Punjab (ELTOP). Its main function is to provide for the research, training, consultancy, design and product development needs of the IT sector. CDAC also has the facility of training individuals with entrepreneurial capabilities. It is the first society under Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to have obtained an ISO 9002 certification. The institute has applied for the status of a deemed university and is awaiting UGC approval.
OBJECTIVES : CEDTI has been established primarily to train manpower in electronic design & technology by offering a variety of training programmes in diverse aspects of electronics design, product development, production technology, maintenance engineering, information tech., quality control etc. In addition, various services in terms of technology transfer, product development, consultancy services and relevant management programmes are provided to electronic industry.
MANAGEMENT: The Society operates under the overall control and guidance of a Governing Council with Secretary DoE as its Chairman. The members of the Council are eminent scientists, senior Govt. officials and leading industrialists. The day to day management functions of the CEDTI units are guided by the Executive Committee of respective units with Director General, CEDTI as its Chairman. The members of the Executive Committee are drawn from academic institutions, industry, State Govts. and DoE.
