Located in In 1880 the elder brother of Hakim Ajmal Khan started the "Madarsa Tibbi" originally at Churiwalan, Delhi. This is the only known institution in the country to offer training in Ayurvedic and Unani Medical Sciences under one roof. The foundation stone of this campus was laid by the then Viceroy of India, Lord Hardinge on 29th March, 1916., The buildings in this campus are a fusion of style in vogue at that time viz., Neo-Classical, Colonial, and Mughal styles. This building has the added distinction of having been inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi, on 13th February, 1921. It also symbolises the recognition of Ayurvedic and Unani Medical Sciences by the British Government. The building is still used as a college and hospital with minimum objectionable transformations., Ayurvedic & Unani Tibbia College, Karol Bagh established by Hkm. Abdul Najeed Khan elder brother of late Sh. Ajmal Khan in 1889, provides 4 1/2 years regular course of study followed by 1 year internship leading to the award of the degree of "Bachelor in Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery" (B.A.M.S.) of Delhi University. There are 13 departments and a hospital with 110 beds attached to the College, Where practical training is given to the students, 40 students are admitted every year and 4 students are nominated by Government (2 for foreigners and 2 from those states where there is no Ayurvedic College)., 15% of the seats are reserved for S.C. and 7 1/2% for S.T. Candidates. Where available 5% of the seats are provided to widows and children of armed personnel 85% seats are reserved for Delhitis, 15% are filled from all over India., The minimum qualification for admission is Senior Secondary Education 10+2 with Biology, Physics and Chemistry (45%) with English by regular study. A candidate must have completed 17 years of age. Admission is made strictly on merit of the qualifying examination., This college has an attached pharmacy (Ayurvedic Rasayanshala), where Ayurvedic medicines are manufactured for use in the College Hospital. Presently this pharmacy is under renovation., Since the generation of Ayurvedic and Unani treatment in India, several colleges are established which offer courses on Ayurvedic and Unani medication procedure.
