Master of Landscape Architecture (M.Arch.La) is a two years postgraduate Architecture degree course of study in India. The landscape is a both an art and the science concerned with creating places for people. The master study is designed as tools of planning, design, management and analysis for the development of land.
The study deals with the concerns and concept related to pure nature, nature - man relationship and manmade environment and encompasses all aspects such as Ecology, Environmental Upgradation, Industrial Landscapes, and Wasteland Management, Urban Landscapes, Green Belts and Cultural and Historical Landscape at Micro to Macro Level.
The course of study is suitable for those candidates wants to increase their knowledge for accelerating their career by exploring and acquire a critical understanding of Landscape Architecture. The course of study is designed to provide in-depth knowledge, information, techniques and about the activities associated with Architecture, in a comprehensive manner. The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and principles techniques in an academic discipline such as Contemporary Processes in Architectural Design, Architecture and Critical Theory, Traditional and Contemporary Landscape, Urban Design Studio, Planting and Horticulture Practices, Geology and Soils, Hydrology and Microclimate Landscape Ecology and Planning, Landscape Construction, Environmental Legislation.
The candidate has to complete Bachelor Degree like Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), or any other Bachelor Degree with relevant subjects or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 55% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s degree study program.
This course requires study requires 2 years of time period in India, It's a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning, study option to earn this degree.
The Master degree holder have excellent career opportunities in Colleges & Universities also in both Public and Private Architectural sectors such as Urban Design, City Planning, Historic Preservation with Government and Private Agencies.
After the successful completion of the course, one can be recognized as Architect and able to work as Landscape Designer, Landscape Project Manager, Landscape Consultant, Landscape Architect, Assistant Supervisor, Researcher, Landscape Project research Fellow, etc.
