Course Details:

Master in Veterinary Public Health (MVPH) is a two years postgraduate master degree course of study in India. The course covers scientific discipline relevant to the prevention of animal disease outbreaks and management of animal health including veterinary epidemiology, biostatistics, hazards to human and animal health economics, animal health policy development, data management and analysis.

The study develops the understanding in candidates about the process which take place in the slaughter of food animals for human consumptions with training purposes in increasing candidates through each step of the process in order to maximise understanding and to ensure that they obtain most benefit from actual visits or work experience.

The course of study is suitable for those candidates wants to increase their knowledge for accelerating their career by exploring and acquire a critical understanding of Veterinary and Public Health. The course of study is designed to provide in-depth knowledge, information, techniques and about the activities associated with Veterinary in Public Health, in a comprehensive manner. The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and principles techniques in an academic discipline such as Global Veterinary Medicines, Zoonoses and Infectious Diseases, Veterinary Epidemiology (Quantitative Methods), Hygienic Production of Food, Veterinary Epidemiology (Method in Surveillance and Field Investigation).

Eligibility

The candidate have to complete Bachelor Degree like, Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), or any other Bachelor Degree with relevant subjects like Biology and Zoology or equivalent examination,with minimum aggregate 55% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s degree study program.

Entrance Examination

In India, it is mandatory to give an additional Pre Medical Entrance Examination. The Veterinary Council of India (VCI), conducts the All India Common Entrance Examination such as Indian Veterinary Research Institute Entrance Exam, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry Entrance Exam. The eligibility is based on Merit.

Course Duration / Learning Mode

This course requires study requires 2 years of the time period in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning, study option to earn this degree. The study is based on practical aspects of Veterinary Science

The Master degree holder have excellent career opportunities in Colleges & Universities also in both Public and Private sector such as Animal Research and Development, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Diseases Investigation Center, Fishery Department, Drug Research Institute, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Feed Processing Industry, Ministry of Agriculture, (Poultry Farms, Meat, Milk) Processing Plant, Veterinary Instruments & Equipment Industry.

After the successful completion of the course, one can be recognized as Veterinarian and work as, Manager (Animal Farm), Veterinary Doctor, Veterinary Surgeon, Associate Scientist, Veterinary Research, Veterinary Consultant, Veterinary Technician, Pharmacy Researcher or Scientist, Biological Scientist, Professor, Lecturer, etc.
