Master of Statistics (MStat)

Eligiblity:

Three years Bachelor's degree with mathematics and statistics as full subjects. Those without statistics may be considered for admission if they have outstanding ability in mathematics.

Course Details:

Master of Statistics (M.Stat) is a two years postgraduate statistics degree course of study in India. Statistics is the study of the collection of data, organization and interpretation of data. The study deals with all aspects of planning of data collection in term of the design of surveys and experiments.
The aim of the master study is to develop good reasoning ability, persistence and the ability to apply principles to new types of problems with the help of mathematical aptitude, reason logically and flexible curious and disciplined mind. The course of study is designed to provide in-depth knowledge, information, techniques and about the activities associated with Statistics in a comprehensive manner.

The master's course of study is suitable for those candidates wants to increase their knowledge for accelerating their career by exploring and acquire a critical understanding of statistics.The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and principles techniques in an academic discipline such as
Ancillary Mathematics, Measure Theory and Probability, Distribution Theory, Matrix Algebra and Numerical Analysis, Computer Programing, Sample Surveys, Linen Models and Regression Analysis, Design of Experiments, Multivariate Analysis, Econometrics and Economic statistics, Environmental Statistics.

Eligibility

The candidate have to complete Bachelor Degree like, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), Bachelor of Engineering (BE), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or any other Bachelor Degree with relevant subjects like Statistics or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 60% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s degree study program.

Course Duration / Learning Mode

This course requires study requires 2 years of the time period in India, It's a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning, online study option to earn this degree.

Further Studies

After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do M.Phil (Statistics), Ph.D (Doctorate in Statistics), and specialization or research oriented work in their respective field.
