Master of Science Yoga and Consciousness (MSc Yoga and Consciousness) - Yoga and Consciousness When most people think of Yoga, they think of exercises for the physical body. These "exercises" are only one small aspect of traditional Yoga. The branch of Yoga that deals with the physical body is known as Hatha Yoga. Hatha Yoga begins the process of returning to one's original state of balance through the physcial body. The end goal of Hatha Yoga, like all branches of Yoga, is to achieve a state of lasting peace and equanimity.This work of mental self-purification, the cleansing of the psyche, is essential. Just as a speck in the eye, by causing inflammation, may wipe out the world, so the mistaken idea: ‘I am the body-mind’ causes the self-concern, which obscures the universe. It is useless to fight the sense of being a limited and separate person unless the roots of it are laid bare. Selfishness is rooted in the mistaken ideas of oneself. Clarification of the mind is Yoga.
