Master of Population Studies (MPS)

Master of Population Studies (MPS) is a two years postgraduate academic public Degree Course of study in India. The study focused on the process of causal mechanisms underlying population change and on the Historical, Cultural and Institutional Context in which these processes originate and evolve. The aim of the program is to develop knowledge with comprises study of life events such as Birth, Marriage, Divorce, Changes in Health, Migration and Death. The course includes instruction in Population growth spatial distribution, mortality and fertility factors, migration, dynamic population modelling with mathematical and statistical analysis of population data, population policy studies and application to problems in economic and government planning. The master’s course of study is suitable for those candidates wants to increase their knowledge for accelerating their career by exploring and acquire a critical understanding of Population Studies. The course of study is designed to provide in-depth knowledge, information, techniques and about the activities associated with an analysis of population data, in a comprehensive manner. Eligibility

The candidate has to complete Bachelor Degree like Bachelor of Arts (B.A), or any other Bachelor Degree with relevant subjects or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 55% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s degree study program.

Course Duration / Learning Mode

This course requires study requires 2 years of time period in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning, online study option to earn this degree.

Further Studies

After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do M.Phil in Population Studies, Ph.D. (Doctorate in Population Studies), and specialization or research oriented work in their respective field.
