Accel Certified Verification Engineer - Digital microelectronics, which is one of the foundations of modern information society, is the science that studies the design, modeling, fabrication and verification of semiconductor integrated digital circuits, commonly called microchips. Since the early 80's, the topics of microchip design, modeling and verification have been identified with the expression VLSI Design, meaning "Very Large Scale Integration". The complexity of today's microchips is so high that they have become Systems-on-a-Chip (SoC), and VLSI design is itself a scientific area independent of the physical aspects of semiconductors. The concept of modern VLSI design is composed on one hand of algorithms and computing structures involving hardware units as well as software blocks, and on the other hand interconnects of MOS transistors that form basic cells and units.
