And Government Duration: 2 years Eligibility: B.Sc. Nursing with 55% Marks in aggregate and one year work experience. Eligibility :- * Pass in B.Sc. Nursing (Basic) / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with 55% aggregate marks. * Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council. * Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing, prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Branches: 1.Medical Surgical Nursing 2.Child Health Nursing 3.Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing 4.Community Health Nursing 5.Psychiatric Nursing AIMS & OBJECTIVES Post Graduate programme in nursing to prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as nurse specialists, consultants, educators and administrators in a wide variety of professional settings, and prepare nurse to improve the quality and evidence based nursing care in the hospital settings, to demonstrate advance competence in practice of nursing. We are providing clinical facility in multi-specialty 750 bedded Government Wenlock Hospital and Lady Goshen Hospital, Mangalore for the practical experience of the students. Being the Government hospital students will be well experienced from all the practical aspects of handling deceases starting from fever to Malaria, Cancer to Aids, Cranium to Kidney etc. Every 10 students will be monitored by a lecturer/ tutor so as to ensure that all the nursing students actively participate in clinicals and get hands-on experience in reality. Before sending for clinical, students will be trained in nursing fundamental lab about the basic principles of nursing. College is having its own buses for the benefit of students so as to carry the students from college to hospital, hospital to hostel, for rural & urban health centres, tours etc. Care has been taken to ensure safe and quick service and to teach students indirectly about the promptness. Nursing is an important profession related to the field of medicine and has tremendous job prospects in India and abroad and opens avenues for further specialization in the profession. Nursing education prepares students to be competent professional nurses with scientific, innovative ideas in solving the health problems of the community. The students while undergoing the nursing curriculum develop their innate abilities to accept roles like clinical practitioner, community health team leader, teacher and administrator. SCOPE AND PROSPECTS The course builds upon and extend competence acquired at the graduate levels, emphasizes application of relevant theories into nursing practice, education, administration and development of research skills. This program prepares nurses for leadership position in nursing and health fields who can function as nurse specialists, consultants, educators, administrators and researches of professional settings in meeting the national priorities and the changing needs of the society. Further the programme encourage accountability and commitment to life long learning which fosters improvement of quality care.
