B.Sc Physics
People in the physics are enthralled and spotlight the characteristics of matter and energy and their relationship to each other. Through courses in various fields of physics, students investigate dynamics, magnetism, atomic and nuclear physics, heat, sound and other physical phenomena. In addition, students develop efficient investigative skills and learn accurately to analyze and report their findings.
The Department of Physics was started and offers Under-Graduate Programme (B.Sc.) in the year 2005, when the College itself was revived. Since the early stage, the Department had basic infrastructural facilities, like laboratories with all the basic amenities and instruments required. The Department, comprising talented teachers, became a full-fledged U.G. Department in the year 2006. To date, the Department has a battery of 6 faculty members, and 1 support staff member. The ever-increasing rush for admission into major physics shows clearly the academic reputation of the Department. The Department helps students of other related discipline also to undertake project works in all physics discipline. Physics majors are prepared not only for a career in physics, but for many other fields. During the first 4 years from its existence, a total of 42 students graduated.
Our department conducts National Graduates Physics Exam(NGPE) through Indian Association of Physics Teachers(IAPT), Khanpur since 2007.
Our association MAGNAMOPUS(a step ahead) was implemented in August 2006. Through this club our department conducts seminar and symposiums periodically in emerging areas of physics. The club conducts training Programm and competitions regularly.
Objectives
To produce highly competent physics graduates and top- caliber physicists through physics instruction.
To equip and prepare students for future graduate programs and research works.
To be of greater service to the community through relevant and responsive extension programs.
