About Government Rewtiraman Mishra PG College, Surajpur

This college was established by the then Higher Education Minister Shri Bhanwar Singh Porte in the year 1984-85 as a result of the long efforts of the local citizens. Initially, with limited resources, the college started in a small building of Nehru Bal Sadan adjoining the municipality and in the community hall of the municipality. The first year classes of Arts and Commerce Faculty were started by gathering furniture fans and other necessary resources with public cooperation, later on need two additional rooms were provided to the college by the municipality, in which B. a. and B. Com final classes could start. After seven years, on September 17, 1991, the then Chief Minister Shri Sunderlal Patwa gifted the college its own building with a plot of 26.5 acres. By getting the building, the students got a favorable environment for higher education, with the passage of time the number of regular students/girls admitted in the college has been increasing continuously. This college, located in the district headquarters of Surajpur, has been given the status of the leading college of the district by the government. This college was initially affiliated to Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur. The college building is located in Gurughasidas ward of Surajpur. This college is registered under Section 2(f) and 12(b) of the University Grants Commission. It has been awarded a "B" grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The revised nomenclature of the college has been named after former MLA Pt. Revati Raman Mishra.
