Urbanization is growing in India at an increasing pace requiring large basic amenities and infrastructure. A massive input of resources is required to strengthen, improve and enlarge the amenities and infrastructure. This calls for development of new technologies and judicious use of existing ones and where necessary, appropriate technology. Competent technocrats to plan, design, construct and maintain the constructions will also be required. With a view to meet the challenges and requirement of this area CEPT established the School of Building Science and Technology (SBST) in 1982 that focuses on the issues concerning Construction, Design & Management of Human Habitat. This is now under Faculty of Technology. It offers a five-year Undergraduate program (UG), Bachelor of Technology (Hons.) Civil-Construction program and two years Post Graduate programs (PG), M.Tech. in Construction Engineering & Management (CEM), M.Tech. in Structural Engineering Design, M.Tech. in Infrastructure Engineering Design, and M.Tech. in Geomatics. It also offers two year M.Sc. Geomatics.
