Biotechnology is an interface of basic and applied sciences, where gradual and subtle transformation of science into technology can be witnessed. This has emerged, in the 21st century, as a major thrust in the field of science and technology having capability to boost the economy of developed as well as developing countries like India. Being multidisciplinary in nature of our M.Sc. biotechnology programme the students are from diverse backgrounds such as chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology etc.
In fact, biotechnology is the confluence of knowledge of basic sciences such as biology, physics, chemistry and also nanotechnology, molecular biology, biophysics, molecular genetics, cell biology, bioinformatics, microbiology etc. Furthermore, it also combines engineering, mathematical and computational tools to arrive at comprehensive understanding of Mother Nature’s way of life cycle. This master programme has both theory as well as practical with interdisciplinary innovative research projects in their curriculum. Exposure to research is also enhanced by a variety of seminar series, symposium and work shop. The faculty of the school is well versed with recent techniques of biotechnology as is evident from the educational background and their publications in reputed journals.
