Mahanth Mahadevanand Mahila College, Ara is the only constituent unit of higher education for the women of Bhojpur district. This college came into existence in the month of July,1959. Previously there was not even a single center of higher education for the girl students of Bhojpur district. The women had to cover larger distances in order to get their education at H.D. Jain College, Ara which was a co-education unit taking into account the problems regarding co-education. The citizens of Ara felt the need of opening a center for women’s higher education.
