We, in 2006-07 having completed 35 years - Tinsukia Commerce College - its constituents, are a family of some students taking education in Higher Secondary, undergraduate and post graduate levels in commerce and some members faculty and administrative members.A College of Commerce in Tinsukia was thought of in the year 1971 by some members of the then Governing body of Tinsukia College. An Ad-hoc Committee was constituted in 1972 with Late J. N. Bhuyan as president and Sri B. K. Saraswat as secretary. The committee decided to start the college under the name of Tinsukia Commerce College from the session 1972. Late Krishna Pada Dutta Choudhury took the charge of the college as Honorary Principal. Perhaps he considered its prudent to accept the post with the idea of spreading and meeting the aspirations of students for commerce education in this remote corner of the state when there was no commerce college in its vicinity., In 1977, the Govt. of Assam was pleased to allot 35 bighas of land, with in now under the possession of the college.In its onward march, commenced with one faculty commerce, introducing post graduate studies under Distance Education in 2002, Computer Education in 2003, KKHSO University in 2008, IGNOU in 2009, could be designated as the land marks in the development and expansion process.Tinsukia Commerce College, the only full-fledged Commerce College of Tinsukia District is just 34 years young. In order to respond to the market demand it was established on 21st August 1972 for the commerce aspirants. Besides H.S. & B.Com. pass courses it offers Major in Accountancy, Banking and Monetary Management and Human Resource management. The college introduced certificate courses in computer, Accounting & Taxation and Spoken English. The institute also offers P.G. courses in Commerce, History, Economics, Assamese, Political Science and Mathematics under D.D.E of Dibrugarh University and proud to have introduced N.C.C. in the college.It gives me immense pleasure to inform that the college is a provincialised College of the Govt. of Assam and is permanently affiliated to the University of Dibrugarh. It is also affiliated under 2(f) and 12(b) of the U.G.C Act, New Delhi and is accredited 'B' Grade by NAAC, Bangalore.
