Located in School of Engineering (SoE) is housed in seven buildings, one building each for the six engineering departments, viz., Civil, Mechanical, Food Engineering and Technology, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Energy, and one separate building of approximate built-up area of 2980 Sqm for housing common facilities for all the departments under SoE. It has a common drawing hall, Chemistry and Physics laboratories, a common Computer Centre, a lecture hall, lecture gallery, Microsoft Incubation Centre, office of CIIIE and a state-of-the-art video conferencing room. The lecture hall, lecture gallery and class rooms are used for conducting common classes of SoE, as well as for departmental courses of the constituent departments. The administrative set up of the School comprising the Dean’s office, conference room, B Tech Admission, AICTE cell, examination control room are located at this building., All the six engineering departments have adequate space with sufficient number of class rooms, tutorial rooms, seminar hall, department library and laboratories for UG and PG programmes as well as for research activities. These departments are equipped with all the recent state-of-the-art equipment to support academics and research. The current faculty strength of the school is 77, out of which 47 are with PhD. The Department of Computer Science and the Department of Information Technology were merged in 2004 and renamed as Department of Computer Science and Information Technology. The Department of Computer Science was started in July, 1994 under the school of Science and Technology. It was started with the object of promoting specialized knowledge in the field of Computer Science and Computer Application., Department of Civil Engeering, The department of Civil Engineering of the Tezpur University was established in the year 2009 under the School of Engineering with a BTech programme. PhD progamme was initiated in winter, 2010. The department aims to provide quality educational, research and professional experiences that enable our graduates to become leaders in their professional careers, to pursue excellence in research, and to serve the profession, community and nation, and to be competitive in the international scene., Department of Electronics and comm.Engeening, Established in 1997, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the oldest departments in the University. Starting with an M. Tech. programme in Electronics Design and Technology, the department has subsequently introduced another M. Tech. programme in Bioelectronics under the Teaching and Research in Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas scheme of the University Grants Commission. The department expanded its academic activities to undergraduate programmes, first with a B. Tech. programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2006 followed by another B. Tech. programme in Electrical Engineering in 2014. The department also has an ongoing three year diploma programme in Advanced Diploma in Healthcare Informatics and Management under the career oriented scheme of the University Grants Commission. In addition, the department offers Ph.D. programme in different areas including Signal & Image Processing, Bioelectronics, Biosensors, Microwave Engineering, Communication Engineering and Microelectronics. At present, the department has a student strength of about 400 which is likely to increase to 600 in the next four years., Department of Energy, Department of Energy started in 1996, with an aim to produce manpower pool in the field of energy, develop new and efficient energy conversion technologies, R & D and extension activities in diverse areas of energy. The department offers a two-year (four semesters) AICTE approved M. Tech. programme in Energy Technology, PhD in energy related areas and Post Graduate Diploma in Renewable Energy and Energy Management (Distance mode). The thrust areas of research are Biomass energy, Solar energy, Hydro-energy, Energy-Environment interaction and Energy Conservation and Management. Apart from the teaching and research, department also organize training programmes, workshops and seminars in the relevant areas of energy., Department of Food Engineering and Technology, The Department of Food Engineering and Technology at Tezpur University is one of the six constituent departments under the School of Engineering. The main objective of the department is to create trained and skilled human resources to cater to the needs of the rapidly growing food processing sector. This department earlier known as Department of Food Processing Technology started in 2006 with the two year M. Sc. programme in Food Processing Technology. The department is currently offering B. Tech., Integrated M. Tech., M. Tech. and Ph. D. programmes, Department of Mechanical Engineering, The Department of Mechanical Engineering has principal objective to cater to the latest need for technical man power in infrastructural sectors of the country. It was started in 2006 under the School of Engineering for offering B.Tech degree with an annual intake of 60 students. Since 2013 the Department is also offering M.Tech Programme in Applied Mechanics and Ph.D Programme in various fields of Mechanical Engineering. Both the B.Tech and M. Tech programmes are approved by AICTE.
